It sounds to me from his quotes that he favors OSU. Crossing my fingers.

That's what it sounds like to me too but hope he weighs it all and chooses the Tigers.

I don't really know about can't win many when
competing with Hartline but we all know that
we are very good when it comes to wins against
the school he is coaching at. Maybe this kid
will take that thought before choosing.

247 Crystal Balls says it's Clemson. Currently it's Clemson 7 - 1 over Ohio State and one of the Ohio State writers says it's Clemson. And that's not even counting my projection.

I didn't think it sounded too bad for the good guys, guess we will see. Him and Shipley were my top 2 wants for that class. Shipley is All-In....

Clemson bound

OSU has been killing it with WR recruiting for about 2 years

I can see the appeal of Ohio State...

May 13, 2020, 2:16 PM

Good school in a relatively safe city

Big stadium with with a passionate fan base.

History and tradition

They win a lot of games and pretty much dominate their conference

They are generally part of the CFP discussion

That said, for the life of me, I don't see how anyone could put-up-with their whiny-a$$ fans and coach.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

If you look at it objectively, it is very easy to see why OSU players love their fans and coach.

I say this as someone who has despised Ohio State football and fans for 30+ years (I graduated from another Big Ten school). After it was finalized we would play them in the Fiesta Bowl, I immediately posted here the main focus of the Football Forum would be Ohio State fans instead of their team. To opponents, OSU fans are over-the-top annoying because of their fanaticism, arrogance, sheer number and money. To players on the team, all they see is love and appreciation.

Same for Ryan Day. OSU players absolutely love the guy.

Ohio State is Dabo's biggest challenge going forward, not Alabama, LSU or UGA. As much as I absolutely hate to say it, they are the only university in a cold climate that can compete every year with Clemson and the top SEC teams.

You make a good point about Ohio State fans. You really have to be dedicated to be that obnoxious.

I have lived in Florida, Clemson, and Ohio. No doubt in my mind where I would rather be!

May 13, 2020, 11:39 PM [ in reply to Re: I can see the appeal of Ohio State... ]

Good post. As an '84 alum, I will admit to watching the Holtzcock$ play Ohio St twice with friends from Savannah in the mid/late 80's. Just as you state, the Ohio St fans were rude, belittling and arrogant even after the losses. But they sure brag with the best and pull hard for their teams.

One fact though. In the 1980's, Big 10 Yank players sucked next to independent pre-SEC SC players. Now Ohio St recruits California, Texas, Florida, Georgia and the South hard. And Ohio State adopts these kids who want to matriculate/play ball out of state. Hand it to them -- with the right coach it can be a winning formula and the Bucknuts are rolling even if they can't beat Clemson. We may see them again this year.

Cold weather must not be a consideration; have never seen a school lead for so many of top uncommitted players, w/ 17 verbals & ranked#1-don't have the recent history of us or bama + recent coaching change-

Clemson vs Ohio State ... absolutely no comparison. They‘re

May 13, 2020, 4:38 PM

... they’re completely different in almost every way.

If you love Ohio State, it’s hard to see how you could love Clemson.

I don’t see how it could come down to an apples and apples decision

A kid loves one situation or the other. Not both.

Besides the weather, why exactly do you think Clemson and Ohio State can't both be attractive to a college football recruit?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If he chooses Clemson...

May 13, 2020, 6:00 PM

then you will see some mighty ###### fan feelings from those fanatic & obnoxious Buckie Fans.

So, GO TiGERS & DaBo..Gut eR Done!!!!!!

They can. However, not everyone wants to go to a Mammoth School (almost 70 k undergrad) in the middle of a City.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There are probably a half dozen reasons at least ...

May 16, 2020, 3:02 PM [ in reply to Re: Clemson vs Ohio State ... absolutely no comparison. They‘re ]

1. Size of student body
2. Location of the schools
3. Stability of the coaching staff
4. Recent NFL success of wide receivers
5. Basic culture of the environment
6. And as mentioned ... the weather

Doesn't get much better than beating out ND for Shipley and OSU for Stellato in the same year.
