Just curious, but is this really what the fan base wants? I see a lot of posts on here referencing steroid use, cheating, oversigning, and low academic standards in the SEC. Why is this a conference Clemson should be interested in joining?

Agreed, but I do think those schools are trying to change their cultures. With UNC it was really just the Butch Davis mistake, and that is in the past. Aside from that, I think the ACC values doing things the right way.

There are integrity issues in every conference. The simple fact of the matter is that the SEC is the best conference (while I do believe it to be top heavy). A move to the SEC would benefit our program in every facet, except for the fact that we may lose a few more games in the beginning and it may take us a couple seasons to be conference contenders.
Having said that, I do not see us going anywhere anytime soon. I certainly do not see us in the SEC (I don't think Carolina would let that happen). Regardless, we are just fine where we are. We are recruiting at an elite level and competing at an elite level, as evident by the fact that we knocked off one of the best in the SEC last season. I can see us competing for a national championship soon, but I see us doing that from the ACC.

I think it is becoming more likely. With it looking like the B1G is going to try and go past 16 then the SEC may do the same. I think the SEC would prefer to stop at 16 but may need to keep up with the numver of tv sets the B1G adds. So while clemson still wont add a lot of tv sets you may see a situation where the SEC takes some schools for sets and others to balance out the competitive brand. Which fits clemson. If people start going past 16 teams then just the fact that there are more spots available means more chances for people to get in.

At that point you're basically running two separate conferences that occasionally meet in the championship game. I suppose the conference could adopt a "four pod" system but that causes a lot of complications when determining who goes to the championship games. The last conference to go to 16 or more (full members) was the WAC, and that didn't last very long.
That being said, if someone DOES dare to go to 18 or 20, that changes the game and Clemson's chances of getting an SEC invite grow. Not a lot, but some.
