Sticker shock. Wow. You never know until you start shopping.
Any ideas on better deals out there, or is $600 to $700 it?

go with premium silver, celestrium or imperium rather than white or yellow gold. That alone will save you upwards of $150.

Take the spot price of gold/troy ounce
Divide by 31.1 (grams in an ounce)
Multiply by .583 if 14K or .417 if 10K (.583 = 14/24 and .417 = 10/24)
Multiply by number of grams
Equals value of gold
=================================================
Ex. Today's gold/troy ounce price is $1283.30
Divide $1283.3 by 31.1 = $41.26 / gram
$41.26 x .583 = $24.06 (14K) $41.26 x .417 = $17.19 (10K)
Say ring weighs 10 g (don't count the stone), the gold value is $240.60 if 14K and $171.90 if 10K
If you sell the gold at a gold exchange remember they make their cut so the final value is reduced by the percentage they charge.

I got mine in 1964 and I think the drug store name was Lynch's Drug Store. Paid 32 dollars. My ring was the last one with Clemson A&M College on it.

I got mine at Lynch's in 1968 and I think it was about $35. I did not get the "jumbo" size which was slightly more.

My mother and father helped all they could to get me through and graduated at Clemson so they put purchasing my ring on my shoulders and I must admit every time I put it on there is an extra little bit of pride in wearing that bad boy and the accomplishment that goes along with it.

Yes, I ordered my '75 ring from the bookstore, but I thought it cost a little more. They came in 2 sizes --- normal and humongous.

They are expensive. I just purchased one this week for my son and it was between $1000 and $1100. Ouch, but oh I cannot wait for that ring ceremony in April. In 2015 I was able to place my oldest son's ring on his finger. That same night, my wife who graduated many years earlier received her ring and I placed that one on her finger. I look forward to placing this new ring on the finger of my final Tiger of this generation! Classes of 1981 , 1987, 2016 and 2019. Buy the ring, don't look back and, if the ring is for you wear it proudly. If is for a loved one, know it is a lifetime gift that they will cherish. I wear mine, proudly, every day of the year! Go Tigers!

If you want sticker shock... look up the price of the Purple gown in in my pick.
I have a ring (that keeps busting a stone) but I do not have purpleness.
