Dean Martin had one of the greatest quotes ever "I feel sorry for people who don't drink because when they wake up in the morning that's the best they will feel all day"

Class of '69 here

Jun 13, 2018, 8:36 PM

Wow! Thanks for posting. Haven't seen one of those since my freshman days. Wish I still had mine. I do have my old rat cap. I saw where you were on C-5, I roomed on C-4 right over the drive through. Those were the years.

Not too different from 1946-50 while I was there. Old first, second, and third barracks were replaced by the new
Dorms. Brings back some great memories. Thanks for posting.

I have no idea what that is, but it's really cool***

Class of '70

Jun 13, 2018, 10:20 PM

8th Barracks Rm 430. Don't remember that booklet in '66, (don't remember much that far back, for that matter.) Do wish I still had my rat hat. Bein' a rat was fun! A license to be rude, lewd, and crude. Ah, rat riots on crisp September nights, panty raids, and the tangy aroma of burning dumpsters. (Some tool set the dumpster that used to be next to the Chemistry Dept. solvent shed on fire once. That caused some sphincters to snap shut!) Seems like we ended up swimming in the library pond 'bout half the time. Them wuz the daze! I'll be 70 in two weeks. 70 years old and Class of '70. There's some kind of symmetry there - downright metaphysical, IMHO. ;)

Re: Class of '70

My Clemson career was short but full of fun and adventure. I even attended a few classes. I was totally unprepared for Clemson. My graduating class from rural SC high school consisted of 18 graduates. I enrolled in first session of summer school immediately after HS graduation. After 2 summer school sessions, 2 semesters and followed by a first session of summer school my Dad PERSUADED me to leave Clemson on July 4, 1964.

I had a great time. My Dad footed the bill. He never complained about the cost of that year at Clemson. There were simply too many athletic events and social activities for academics.

I came home, married my HS sweetheart about 18 months later and the rest is history.

I'm 73 yrs old now, retired, have 3 children who lesrned from my experience and are all college grads. One graduated from Clemson.

Those were great times. We learn life the hard way. I'm a happy man. I should have worked harder as a student but I worked hard for my family.

I was a season ticket holder for 20 plus years. I love Clemson. We just aren't able to attend now.
