campus but he will take visits during the season so we aren't out of it after Friday. Not sure why a player commits to a school then sets up official visits to other schools.

I think you are confusing basketball recruit with the Cali football recruit whose has NEVER visited Clemson.
JJ has been to Clemson already.

Josiah James has visited campus, and it is really Duke, Clemson, Mich State then Tenn... BBrownell will need to stack the class with other players that JJ would want to play with. If he is the crown jewel of a class with only mid major talent, he's going to Duke, much like Williamson...

Only Gabe DeVoe and Amir Simms were successfully recruited players by Brownell that were primarily responsible for the Sweet 16 run. Thomas, Mitchell, Reed, Donnal and Skara were all transfers from other programs... Brownell has to successfully and consistently recruit those kind of players as freshmen to build a program. The results of Brownell's freshmen recruits has produced very little more than .500 conference records and NIT invites

Newman was offered by UNC, nCST, and UVA among others. Jemison was offered by Okie St, Maryland, Bama, Stanford, Auburn and plenty more. Tyson offered by Tenn, VT, WF, Mich, and Pitt. Oliver was offered by Texas Tech. William was offered by FSU, UF, Uconn, and WVU. Trapp offered by Usuck, KSt, Mizz, UGA, and GT.
So yea I'd say we have much better than mid major talent on our team that 2019 recruits will be playing with besides just Simms.

That's not way better talent, it's progress but not way better

Also, I could go through that list and show you committable offers vs fall back offers for each of them. Also, a lot of those teams don't achieve much more than Clemson if they achieve any more at all when it comes to post season invites. If all of the recruits stick at Clemson for 4 years, hopefully their development progresses as well and we continue to build the program beyond occasional NIT invites to regular NCAA invites. If we only get NCAA invites once every 5 years, that's no progress and no better than mid major talent, unless the issue is that we've got mid major coaching...

Christian Brown committing would be the kind of player

that JJames would want to play with, especially with both of them being in-state guys. another to lookout for is Malcolm Wilson, the 6'11 instate center from Ridge View. he needs to put on some weight, but he will rebound, block shots and complement James and Brown as offensive players and be a defensive presence in the middle.
Brownell has a chance to capitalize on the Sweet 16 run and get his next group of players to put stakes down in state, but he's got to close on those guys and lock them in...
