I've been in colder weather, but don't think I've ever been as unprepared for the temperature drop that night.

The game certainly didn't help.

Lou Holtz didn't coach that Independence Bowl game..

He was named ND coach prior to it. I lived in the DFW area at the time, so went to the game. Yep...'twas cold...and the drive between Shreveport and Dallas is one of the most mind-numbing stretches of road in the country! :)

1979 Peach Bowl was awful! Played in the Atlanta Fulton County Stadium .It was a true baseball park, the football field was mostly in the outfield. It was spitting snow , mixed with sleet and a little snow. Just a miserable place to be .
