Chad Morris to SMU?
Sep 8, 2014, 7:13 PM
|
|
FootballScoop Staff tweeted
"Chad Morris will deny it until offered to him but he would love to be the next head coach at SMU. Plenty of Mustangs would love that too"
That don't sound too good about Morris.

Morris is a great situation. He's making 1.3 million dollars at a championship contender school with a lot of talent. He can pick his spot for a big HC job.

It might happen, but it won't be because this website has insider info.

Not sure why anyone thinks the SMU or any other HC job wouldn't be better than a coordinator job at Clemson

Would be a perfect fit for him.
Given his Texas roots I've always felt he has been waiting for an offer from one of the schools in that state. All the other schools in that state seem to be locked into their coaches for their foreseeable future, so this may be the best offer he gets there.
And given his ineptitude at times in big games I feel his stock is falling and its unlikely he'll get a call from a big name school any time soon.

I forgot we only have lost big games since 2011.
Also, has offensive scheme even been the problem in the big games we actually did lose? I can really only think of 3 games where Morris's gameplan has been questionable (FSU last year, Georgia this year, and SCU in 2012).

Chad Morris will be the head coach at a big school, not some mid tier school like smu. You should know better than to listen to "footballscoop" on twitter, anyone could say whatever they wanted.

If June Jones cant win at SMU, I doubt Morris would do much better.

If he goes.... He goes.
At a cool 1.3 mil and a cupboard that ain't exactly bare..... We would have no problem finding a coach

I used to be concerned about losing Morris.

All of his interviews each of the last few offseasons, coupled with our offense not playing well in big games, has dampened my enthusiasm for him. He's a smart offensive mind, but certainly replaceable.

Judge, that is where I am coming from. Any college football fan with a pulse knows he runs the score up on smaller opponents and struggles with good defenses.
Sure Clemson is winning but the 5 in a row and the beat downs to FSU and UGA have more of an impact than a field goal win over a decent team.
I think he is good, I just cant justify the lack of offense against USC and falling short in the second half against UGA
There is a gap somewhere between SC st and FSU / USC that will keep him from a big school HC
Come on guys you say SMU is too small for him, where do you think he can go right now? Lets see, NC st said no, Vandy no, What other interviews did he do??
His best time to leave was after the LSU game after that, he has gone downhill in big game wins not overshadowed by big game losses
