Can we give our man Simmons a little love??

Dec 30, 2018, 6:50 AM

Talk about a complete 180 from the SCAR game. If our secondary plays like they did today against Alabama then I will be feeling reeeeally good.

I thought he and Muse both played a heck of a lot better. Proud of them and I hope they stay focused and motivated for the next one!!!!!!

I never doubted our secondary's capability to perform much better going forward. It seems some people forget that playing consistently well isn't easy. It takes a lot of hard work and focus, which has to be extremely difficult with all the distractions. Add Thanksgiving to the usual distractions that week, and it's even harder. I know that isn't an acceptable excuse, but everyone has a bad game. That's all it was to me.

Sometimes the road to the truth is so elusive it's confusing and reality becomes illusion.

Also, was Simmons the one who stripped the ball and recovered, but the zebras ruled "forward progress"? By that, I guess they mean the play was dead because forward progress had been stopped before the ball was stripped?

Exactly! Rewatched the game this morning and his batted ball on that 4th and 3 was KEY! He played it perfectly, looked next level. Then we turned around & drove for our first TD.

Playing db is the toughest defensive position on the field. Receivers know where they are going and a db must react most often running backwards to the receiver. Coach V had our guys really coached up and he made the right calls last night. The players made the plays! It was great to be a CLEMSON fan last night!!

+1 and roger that GCT

And props to fellow safety Tanner Muse who had five quiet but important tackles as well as a busy night in coverage with no broken plays. Job well done to both!!

It was pretty obvious our coaching staff didn't think...

our secondary was giving 100%. I suggest our players back there felt secure knowing that they were playing behind the best and deepest defensive line who ever took a college field.

Imo, what the coaches felt they needed was an absolute measure of humility and one game out of position against a team which liked to pass the ball might be the cure.

I'm not saying to blame anyone, not the coaches nor players but the USuCk game was obviously the medicine we needed to remedy the disease.

Everyone is ready to give that 100% on every play now.
