there should be some sort of NCAA imposed moratorium on contacting and/or interviewing coaches until the bowl games have all been played. This can create an unbelievable distration as far as bowl preparation is concerned.

or conferences. They're just money injectors from the school's pockets into the bowl's pockets. I'd love to see teams start refusing bowls like I heard they did 30 years ago.

I don't disagree, but coaches compensation packages have a bowl kicker in them, and it gives coaches an extra 20 or more practices where they get to plug in and work guys who supposedly don't get as much work during the year. It would be nice if there were a clause in their contracts that stated the bowl game could not be accepted unless it nets a profit for the school.

Were the NCAA to impose such a restriction, tort attorneys would fill the courts with lawsuits claiming that said restriction damaged their clients' (plural as in class) earning potential.

He may have an offer letter in hand but is it realistic to expect a coach to fly all the way to Lubboch while he is trying to get their current team prepared for an upcoming bowl game?

I think if it's offered, he may be gone. Of course he has said he wants to wait on his daughter to graduate so maybe he'll hold out knowing and hoping better things will open up down the road. And the whole thing about waiting on his daughter to graduate HS is purely from what I've read here. Never seen it in an interview, but taking it others have.

Si, quando el dinero es muy bueno. (My Spanish is pretty poor, but it may just be all about money, and being close to home for him and his family.) I do hope he stays for another year. I believe we are on the cusp of greatness, and he will have some really great offers, if I am right, but the decision is his, and I wish him and his family the best.

Why doesn't the College teams do what the Pro teams do. When ever there is a opening, and this teams wants to interview another coach that is still in the play offs, they can't until the end of the season. I'm all for him moving up. I think he has done a heck of a job, and deserves to be a HC. But all this has got to be a distraction for the players getting ready for the bowl game. If you want a Coach, then wait until that team is done, then talk to him.
