Can someone tell me what the problem is with our O line?

Oct 12, 2013, 11:32 PM

I'm truly stumped. My football IQ isn't anything to brag about, but when a tackle runs right through the middle of the line untouched to pressure the QB it's pretty obvious that something is not right. Is it personnel, scheme, or both?

starting RT got hurt. Both are healthy but working back to starting. Could happen this week. We had 496 yards, average 4.4 tpc and allowed no sacks, so it wasn't awful, just inconsistent. I look for Beasley to be back at LG this week and Battle's time to increase at T

Because BC brought the house on almost every play.

Agreed. The past two teams we've played blitzed almost constantly. I personally think the o-line has held their own for the most part.

I get that they were blitz happy (just like everyone will be the remainder of the year), but there were times where guys went completely untouched. Not talking about read plays either. Just our guys whiffing. Seckinger is the biggest offender. His pass pro blocking skills need to improve.

True that we didn't give up any sacks, but Boyd was running for his life a lot. FSU's D is better. They'll bring the house too.

They just didn't play well today

Davis whiffed on a few tackles in pass pro, some were just embaressing actually. The others were average to below average today. I'm not sure how hard we are pushing them in practice but I expect us to have this fixed soon enough.

Seckinger is a WR masquerading as a TE. His blocking is going to be a work in progress.

This brings up another question. Where are our crossing routes? Sammy dropped one today, but we just don't run as many as we used to. A short pass over the middle in the hole left by the blitzing linebackers is very effective.

Talent or rather the lack thereof.
