difference between retiring a jersey and retiring a number? I hear in the future we will retire jerseys but not numbers. Guess I’m too old to understand the difference.

My take on that is when a jersey is retired, the jersey is hung/displayed in honor of that player. Future players can use the number.

If the number is retired,no one else is allowed to use that number.
