But but but...we dont have the talent level to compete

Nov 29, 2010, 4:44 PM

for an ACC championship yet. Give Dabo time!!!!! He cant go out there and make the throws/catches/runs/tackles/kicks....we have just dont have a talented enough team yet. Clemson fans expect TOO much from Dabo. Jeez...we just had an ACC championship in 1990....how often can you really expect these things?!?!

Nice accomplishment for those individual players.

It's unfortunate to have all that talent, and finish 6-6.
I think it's a good indicator of which coaches are getting the job done.

Job well done coach Steele...

One of the most talented ACC teams went 6-6. Wonder why?

Wow! Four first-team all-ACC players and Clemson went 6-6. If you look at the following recruiting comparisons (and consider that UNC had a ton of their best players suspended when they played Clemson) it's pretty clear that Clemson had more player-talent available than any ACC opponents except Miami and possible FSU. (FSU was a toss-up.) But Clemson ended up 4-4 in the ACC and 2-6 against teams that finished with winning records.

If not inferior coaching, then how do you explain losing to 3 inferior teams in one season?

Exactly, defense can only do so much when they are on the field so much during a game. The offense put us behind the 8 ball alot this season and the D had to bust they humps just to keep a field goal vs TD. The talent was on D. Way to many bad throws, dropped passes, untimely offensive penalties, etc. Offense(or play calling) was the problem this year, unfortunately we're going lose alot of our defense next year.

Yep. D saved us. Top D guys leaving. But give Dabo 1 more yr

We saw what happened to the offense after exceptional (once-in-a-decade-or-two) talent like Spiller & Ford bolted for the NFL. Next year the defense will lose similarly exceptional talent in McDaniel and (in all likelihood) Bowers. The defense will additionally lose Jenkins, Chavis, Gilchrist, & Maxwell. So realistically, the defense (which saved Clemson this year) will not be as good next year.

The offense loses Hairston and will be breaking in a new QB who hasn't proven himself to be better than Parker so far. Unless Clemson gets a new HC (or at the very least anew OC who can call the plays without Dabo meddling), it's hard to imagine the offense being better.

With a worse defense, similar offense, and no great place-kickers on the recruiting board, it's hard to imagine Clemson doing better next year. But many people are saying that we need to give Dabo more time, as though he'll do a lot better next year. It makes no sense to me.
