So we go out recruit Watson's back up in the off season?

Dec 2, 2014, 1:36 PM

Or do we have one good enough in case he gets hurt again?

A) I think NS should get a shot to be the #2
B) Israel and Bryant both would be more capable than Stoudt off the bat, you would think.

Nobody knows how a kid's talent will translate from high school into college. Cole Stoudt was very highly thought of coming out of Ohio , he was rated in the top 30 QBs in the nation that year and had broke most of Brady Quinn's passing records at the school they both played at.
No telling how good Bryant and Israel will be , or how bad .
It is a crapshoot to evaluate kids these days , so much of the mental aspect is too unknown to predict and just the physical is evaluated .

Stoudt wasn't highly thought of coming out of high school...

He was only a 3 star recruit that was committed to Wyoming before committing to us. Stoudt didn't attract much attention from big name programs.

I think thats unfair to both players. Similar skill set yes, but far from mirror image. Can't see Bryant making an instant impact the way Watson has. DW is a rare talent.

It's not just talent. Watson played in a very advanced offense in high school. Even the ESPN announcers picked up on it Saturday. How often do you see a true freshman for a big time program look off a defender or work through his progressions like that?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He has more upside but not near as developed as DW***

Re: Bryant is a good athlete, Israel is a good QB. Both will

Dec 2, 2014, 1:52 PM

have tremendous upside. Israel's numbers in High School are better than Watson's were in High School. 15,000 yards passing and 160 passing TD's? Kid can throw the Ball. Bryant is a 6'4" monster of an athlete. Can really run and has a very strong arm, though a bit raw in his delivery. Either is a tremendous upgrade from our back up situation this year, and both will get a ton of snaps in the spring with DW sitting it out.
