Am I the only one that thinks Brooks Crawford is not a starting Pitcher? I dont think his pitching repertoire is indicative of a starting pitcher. Help me understand, is it depth? Too many young pitchers? or is this a senior thing?

I think he would be a better middle reliever but he is the only good experienced starter we have
Let’s hope the 2 freshman will be able to get good innings vs ACC teams .

Check this out from his bio:
2018: ACC Academic Honor Roll member … had an 8-2 record and a 3.24 ERA in 16 starts … in 80.2 innings pitched, he allowed 71 hits (.234 opponents’ batting average) and 18 walks with 58 strikeouts … first in the ACC in wins in ACC regular-season games (6), tied for first in wins and tied for second in starts … led the team in wins and innings pitched … tied for the team lead in starts on the mound … Clemson had a 14-2 record in his 16 starts
Seems like he has earned is starting role to me.

All of that was in relieving rolls, His fastball, changeup combo is good but I dont think its good enough to go 5 or 6 innings, against acc talent teams. Just my opinion

He started 16 games last year. He was not a reliever. Clemson won 14 of those 16 games.

Sad that i don't remember him starting at all last year. So far he has made it 4 innings clemson has the lead so maybe im not giving him the credit he deserves

Keep in mind, Monte uses his bullpen liberally so it is unusual for a Clemson starter to make it too deep in a game.
I think it is analogous to how Coach Swinney uses his RBs. Keeps them fresh for later in the year.

He has real good stuff usually gets ahead but then try’s to nibble to much. This leads to a lot of full counts and his pitch count goes up.
If he had a dominant out pitch he would be an excellent starter.

Wrong on the role but right on pitches. He’s not a 4 pitch guy, although not many college pitchers are. He definitely deserves to start this year but some of these freshman may have higher ceilings. Some pitchers like Hennessy are better in the pen. Either way Crawford is a good pitcher.

I like Crawford and think he does an outstanding job but I do think he relies on his fastball WAY too much. I think he needs to change his speed up on the fastball if he is going to use it as much as he does. With that said you can't deny his results, period.
