"Breaking News"...

Juwuan Briscoe. Yes, his stats seem impressive. He was completely unnoticed and once we offered, other schools watched his film, took notice, and the offers started filtering in. This happens quite often in college football, and when a young, immature man makes decisions, they are often made without thought and consequence.
Keeping one's word is important and is crucial to one's character. It’s a commitment; a bond; it is a promise. When I was a young man and I had a tough decision to make, my Dad would always say “Don’t worry so much about making the right decision. Make a decision, and make it right”…
It does not matter how great an athlete is, or that he has "speed". What defines a player is character, not stars. We have seen countless examples of great Clemson Men that were 2 or 3 star guys that produced championship results.
If he does not want to be a Clemson Man, sadly, it is his loss. But is this "Breaking News"?
When I was at Clemson there were no "star rating"; just a lot of newspaper articles and gossip down at Mac's Drive-In.
In our age of social media, we have created a monster that influences decisions based on half-truths and internet myths. A short film clip can make any player look like a phenomenal athlete, but once the hashtags and selfies fade away, all you have is a young man and his character.
When perusing this board, I am saddened by the ill-mannered comments of those hiding behind their keyboards, inventing nonsense to the point of actually believing everything that is seen or written on the internet.
Most have never actually played football; none have been on the field when it is 34 degrees and breezy, or raining. None have been in the locker room listening to the coaches and fighting the butterflies before a game. Most have not been on the field in front of 80,000 screaming fans…
Take some time, step back and think about what you truly believe. Being a Clemson Man or Woman means having character; it means supporting your team and coaches, when winning or losing.
We have lost 3 games this year (we are the ONLY team this year to play two Top 5 teams in the first 3 weeks of the season), and we had a bad day in Atlanta. It’s football. It’s a sport. It is reality.
Tiger Net writers use the term “Breaking News” too gingerly, dumbing down it’s importance.
“Breaking News” is not losing a confused “committed” player. “Breaking News” is that we are having a very good season, during what was to be considered a “re-loading/re-building” year.
Thank you Coach Swinney and all of the staff and players for helping build such a solid foundation for Clemson football. Championship teams require a solid foundation, built on character. After the last tackle is made, and the last flag has been thrown, it is very comforting knowing that win, or lose - no one can take away your character and foundation.
Today when you are in the real world just remember what my Dad used to tell me…

So true, so true . . .
There is an historical parallel to this season one may draw upon, which "doesn't guarantee results", as they say. But many will recall a season where our Fighting Tigers football team had stumbled towards their last game, the rivalry game at home, as a 5-5 team. With that teams' dedication and focus (and some orange britches), the day and the game was won! And unbeknownst to all, greater things were on the horizon!
Hang tough, Tiger Fans! All In! All the Freakin' Time!
Go, Tigers!

Well said Lil'Mac that is the kind of thought process we all need, but in our instant gratification world we have breeded these type responses. I have watched Cole Stoudt's parents at games and it has been tough on them. I'm sure they want him to perform at a high level when he gets a chance. He has only been serviceable in my opinion, but he is a Tiger and our Tiger, we are where we are if the primadonna Swag Kelly had been a man of character he could have let us in these tough games, but I agree with Dabo's decision to release him. We do not need to be like Dumbo Fisher and HBC with the win at all costs mentality.
It is funny how the Carolina fans diss our National Championship only to take up for Slurrier in his decisions with Garcia!
But I like the program Dabo has built, they are Men of character win or lose!!!

Thank you for the kind words Tigerbuyer. I would love nothing more than for Cole to lead us to a romping victory over the chickens, where he could redeem himself in the eyes of the fair weather fans.
Yes, you are correct- I, too, like the program that Dabo is building.

Please don't compare anyone on Tnet to Paul Harvey. He was one of a kind.

Thanks for the kind words under11par®. Funny that you mentioned that; my Dad taught at Clemson for 33 years; his office was in the P&A building and he was fondly known as "Big Mac" and I loved it when they called me "Little Mac".
My years as a student at Clemson were some of the best years of my life, and I was fortunate enough to be at the Orange Bowl when we won the National Championship, playing Tiger Rag on the quads.
Loved it then, and love it now.

Sorry to hear that Dabo's success comes as a surprise.

If this season's results are Breaking News to you, I am curious about what your "meets expectations" level was. And thinking about this, I must again say...I'm sorry that Dabo gives you such low confidence in our success.
