Best football changes - nothing WORSE than a TIE

Part of that ESPN series saluting 150 years of college football. One part deals with "Footballs Greatest Innovations."

There have been a good many of them, and one discussed a lot was eliminating the TIE.

There was nothing worse than watching/attending a "tie ball game." Everyone felt like a loser - or that all the effort had been for nothing. Play a game and NOT have a winner? That was a really empty feeling for both teams/fanbases.

They could do things to make overtime better - but ANYTHING is better than leaving a game tied at the end.

I remember the tie against Georgia in I think 1983. Both teams tried 60+ yard field goals to win it, but missed. Ties suck.

That's for sure. Remember that year that Bud Selig let the baseball All Star game end in a tie? They should have rode him out of the stadium on a rail. Both teams "ran out of pitchers". Ok, let a position player pitch, somebody would have won the game with a homer pretty durn fast.
