can't let a good line go to waste, comrade!

just so we're on the same page here, is it fair to deduce from your rhetoric, that in your opinion, China is not a threat?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

IMO not nearly the threat Trumpies make it out to be.

Jan 20, 2021, 2:32 PM

We’ve got bigger issues here at home to worry about, I’m not concerned about Chy-nah.

Jan 20, 2021, 2:58 PM [ in reply to IMO not nearly the threat Trumpies make it out to be. ]

I agree that we have bigger issues here to worry about, but I think it's naïve to discount the Chinese influence on those issues. Do I think they own the government as indicated by Rs over the past year? No (at least, I sure AF hope not). Do I think they have infiltrated to a degree in an attempt to influence decision makers and policy makers? Without a doubt.

It would be nice to see this new administration take a strong stance against China, but I'm pretty pessimistic in that regard.

In my opinion (and the DoD's and DNI's), from a foreign policy perspective, China is undoubtedly the biggest threat. Economically and militarily (if that's a word). I thought that before Trumpies were a thing, fwiw. I've worked with the Chinese, worked in China a few times, and have some friends in high places that share the same sentiment...again, fwiw.

Me personally, they're a huge threat. Their strategy, if accomplished, would be detrimental to our economy and in turn impact my sliver of the economy drastically.

In summary, I think it's a disservice to simply sweep this under the rug b/c Donnie Pump shared the same sentiment. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and again.

Re: that's cool - I can see that I reckon

Jan 20, 2021, 4:28 PM

23,

Could you be a bit more specific about the threats ? And what exactly would you suggest that Biden do ?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i'm in no position to set foreign policy haha

Jan 20, 2021, 6:01 PM

I'm just an engineer man. Admitting that, I have no idea what the answer is.

I know what I don't like that I can speak to:
- I don't like firms tied to the CCP being able to buy large tracts of land here.
- I don't like firms tied to the CCP being able to leverage our financial markets or own large stakes in American companies.
- I don't like the % of critical goods that are manufactured in China (high level - reliance on them in general).
- I don't like how CCP firms are stealing our IP and using it to their advantage.

I also don't really like how no one has really stood up to them, and even worse, many in the past have covered for them or enabled them (myself included by buying their cheaper products). The past administration made an effort (arguably a poor one), so now it's taboo to have this thought as it'd be tied back to Donnie (as seen in this very thread). So that kind of sucks.

For the threats, I had a buddy send me this and read through the summary prior to skimming through the rest. Seems pretty legit...

https://media.defense.gov/2020/Sep/01/2002488689/-1/-1/1/2020-DOD-CHINA-MILITARY-POWER-REPORT-FINAL.PDF

My job in all of this is to find ways to make and distribute goods cheaper here in the US, so we'll continue doing that in hopes of creating more GDP here instead of buying it from them.

Re: Before Trump you had your socialist on training wheels

Jan 20, 2021, 2:38 PM

That's what you're going with? We have had W and we have had Republicans that were not President. Trump is special. There is a reason he has the lowest approval rating leaving office in US history since it has been monitored. You seem kind of hurt today, so I will let you deal with your grief alone. Thought and prayers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Before Trump you had your socialist on training wheels

Jan 20, 2021, 2:49 PM

Yeah, and the reason for the low approval is the MSM and largest, richest tech corporations on the planet decided years ago they were anti-Trumpers.

Unfortunately, opinion polls and even voting are no longer meaningful when 90% of impressions made on people originate in leftist thinking.

The fact that 75M voters can be strong enough to thwart the propaganda is a huge success and shows the stamina of the American working citizen.

Unfortunately, that may be the end of the rebellion. Socialism, liberalism, progressivism may be here to stay. When the next/new generation figures out yall fcked it all up, it will be too late to change.

Re: Before Trump you had your socialist on training wheels

Or it could be because because is a divisive nutcase who also left office in disgrace. The vast majority of Americans don't approve of such things.

What's this about the presidential china featuring puppets? Sounds whimsical at least. Maybe they can serve Big Macs on that china to our Tigers after they win our next national championship.
