smack dab in the middle of the conference, no N. Carolina prejudice ... fine venue, lots to do for the fans after the game (or before) ... WAIT!!!, Mary-Land is leaving .... GET GEORGETOWN to join the ACC ! (Olympic Sports only, unless they start a D-1 Football Program) ...

If those are the options it's got to be DC. That would fall

right around the Cherry Blossom Festival there too which is a pretty extraordinary thing to experience. A five day jaunt to the nation's capital can't be all bad. All those other sites blow though. As far as NYC is concerned, ACC basketball doesn't belong there yet, if it ever will. I'd rather see the new Catholic basketball league own that venue, should make for good college ball, and let the ACC take it to the heart of the mid-Atlantic.

As long as that man draws breath you will never again see anything done that would eliminate unc's home court advantage in the ACC tournament. One year in Atlanta is all we get.

Again I say: Washington DC is a no-brainer. It is perfect.

The ACC football championship leans a bit south. Let the basketball championship lean a bit north.
It is as convenient a location as you can get for the conference members.
It is not as cold as NYC. DC in March is not too cold.
It is a destination, meaning that fans who lose will still get an enjoyable experience.
DC has more of an ACC feel than NYC. DC is more "stately". NYC feels like the Big East (or...the old Big East).
With Maryland leaving, DC is no-mans land, allowing no ACC school to claim some sort of homefield advantage.
With Maryland leaving, having DC host will maintain an ACC stake in the DC area.
The Verizon center isn't as big as Greensboro, but it's still over 20,000 and bigger than MSG.
At a time where everything in sports seems to be fluid, I think the ACC needs to start locking in some consistency. Greensboro is a throwback to the old ACC. If we're to embrace the new "east coast" ACC, we'd better lock this tournament in to Washington, stake our claim to that region and show some respect to the northern basketball powers in the conference.
