a very long weekend for the CU Tigers. Poor relief pitching and non-existent clutch hitting have sunk the series with UNC. It may have worse implications. Coach Lee is not staying with his starter enough in the sticky uprisings of the opponents. Even the Carolina ESPN3 announcers alluded top that today about Eubanks. Still amazed they threw out Pinder today on a bunt attempt for a hit. I would have thought he could have easily scored on that one. Am I 2nd guessing the coach[es]--yes; their moves on Friday PM and today lost us games.
Although I agree with much of what you're saying i can't get the tv coverage so relegated to listening to Don. Curious if pinder realized what the play was. Was he cheating up the line and got a big enough jump? Radio said 3rd basemen made a great play.
I don't put blame on Monte for his decision. He knows what he has and doesn't have. Any reasonable team would have gone to the pen in those situations. The pitch count was way up on both and they were seeing them 3 or 4 times through the order.
Bottom line, our pen isn't good enough for the competition we're facing now. Monte knows that and will fix it. They're still way ahead of schedule.
