baseball seems to me to work off how you do and who you are. since he was drafted firswt round they obviously think he can play and do well. Good numbers help get him moved up. Assuming a guy was drafted in the late rounds and has similar numbers to KP I would think Kyle would get the nod.

Draft position and money spent will over ride talent (and even success) in a majority of cases. They (MLB) will fall all over themselves trying to justify the money already spent on a player.

I've been given this perspective from several people over the years. I'm sure for players and prospects its frustrating. I'm amazed this continues to be such a the case based on draft round

Yeah, to be honest the realization of it (living it with Ryan so to speak) actually took a lot of my lifelong interest level away form pro baseball in general.
