Why dont we out talent the ACC?

Oct 2, 2019, 4:48 PM

How many 5* WRs does you 5* Quarterback need to move the ball on these teams? I watch these games and I wonder how is this possible?

Why couldn't Bama out SEC us?

How is it possible for our staff to beat Bama twice

Oct 2, 2019, 5:11 PM

in the last three years with less talent on paper? Here’s the deal: we literally go through this every single year. The offense starts slow, it even happened with DW4 in 2016, and you guys come out of the woodwork to question everything our staff does. We play close games every year against teams we should’ve beaten handily and you guys come out and act like the program is spiraling downward. Any reasonable fan would just be thankful for the win last week and be grateful for everything this staff has done.

To your question the fact that we rotate so many guys alone would explain a lot of the sluggish starts. While we watched the Ohio States, Alabamas and Oklahomas of the world light up the scoreboard early on we also watched them flame out last year as our team got better and better. I’m not going to question the staff not caring about style points. I’m not going to question their methods when they have such proven results. I don’t think any other staff in the country could do what our staff has done at Clemson or any other non blue blood school.

If you’re a Clemson fan enjoy the ride and stop being so negative. The overall results speak for themselves. If you’re a troll stop playing games with real Clemson fans and worry about your own team.

During Bowden's thrashing of the ACC from their admittance until abot 2005 , they consistantly had close games with teams that didn't nearly stack up to them talent wise .
The assertion that a football team who has a recruiting gap should punish every team it plays is absolutely absurd and has no true precedent in modern college football .

Re: Why dont we out talent the ACC?

We do most of the time. And when we don't show up, we are somehow still winning (Syracuse last yea,r UNC this year), whereas most teams that don't show up - LOSE.

You only go undefeated by squeezing out your bad games, everyone has bad games.

How was Citadel tied with Bama at the half last year?

good question...and why can't the SEC out speed other teams?

Oct 2, 2019, 5:46 PM

i mean BYU could catch UT's players...? how, just how? That SEC speed is unmatched and its incredible that their best team can get smoked by 4TD's in a championship game. (4 was generous too, could've easily been 5)

I'm just looking at the talent at WR

Oct 2, 2019, 5:58 PM

and why the heck are we missing Hunter Renfrow? Make a play.

Specific to UNC, they played two safeties deep and made us commit to methodical, clock-eating, mistake-free ground game. Fewer opportunities for our downfield threats, plus our OL had a rough day.

I think we miss Hunter more than people realize. Not having that experienced clutch receiver for outlet passes makes a big difference.

Bama, Oklahoma, Ohio St. LSU offenses

Oct 2, 2019, 6:45 PM

when you see the highlights of these teams you go: they have superior talent and it shows on the field. Or is it? Maybe they playing inferior "coached" teams! Not inferior talent; there is great talent in the SEC. Did you know the ACC has the 2nd most in the NFL?
I think the better coached players come from the ACC; more than likely the smarter players who will follow the game plan and be in position are in the ACC. So those Wide and I mean, "Wide" open slants Tua throws or the out cuts Justin Fields throws or just about anything Lincoln Riley dreams up where the players are wide open............could just be lowsy defense! Maybe we are playing defenses that are in superior position and it evens the playing field with the Clemson offense's talent?
They can't say what they want - but no defense offered bama much resistance last year in the SEC. Kirby was likely the best DC so he was able to come up with a good plan. The rest of the "vaunted" SEC couldn't come within ironicly 4 TD's of bama.
In comes a well coached team with slightly less on paper talent and BAM - they smoke the team that smoked the rest of the SEC.
Did OSU make it even with Haskins setting all those records?
Oklahoma make it to the championship game with their Heisman winner?

It's more to it than winning in September by 50 points. Clemson has decided to develop depth and run the play and keep some things close to the vest. Hasn't hurt the winning % b/c nobody else has won more consecutive games. Hasn't hurt the trophy case. Just saying! Maybe instead of blowing people out and proving how much more superior - those other schools could develop the 2nd and 3rd string so when the starter gets knicked up they have somebody ready.

These guys made plays on the best the Nation had to offer in January. NC is supposed to be a tap in. They're better than Saturday. If we're playing to a standard that was off target. I'm not asking them to be better than they are.

Re: Bama, Oklahoma, Ohio St. LSU offenses

Oct 2, 2019, 8:56 PM

No but you're asking them to play to your standard. Maybe TL was sick, maybe the sun was glaring from one side forcing us to run more or short pass more instead of deep throws. A lot comes into it that we don't know and you can't guess unless you're on the field with them playing. Either way, we won.

Re: Why dont we out talent the ACC?

Oct 2, 2019, 8:51 PM

Could we at least wait until a pattern develops? One game similar to this per season is not a season long trend.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It is the oldest universal truth in football at any level.

Oct 3, 2019, 8:58 AM

You need the big uglies up front to keep the other teams big uglies up front off your guy long enough for him to use that 5 star talent and get the ball to those 5 star receivers. For whatever reason, we have been more deficient in that area this year than last. It is not Carman, his play has been a bright spot. For some reason, the others seem to have regressed, rather than gotten better. Whether reading press clippings, too many pork chops, or something else, the difference Israel.
