My dad almost did that to our 1962 Caddy, sedan.

When we first moved to FL in or around '65 many people drove onto the beaches. Late in the afternoon people started moving their cars. Of course 'the rednecks,' though they were going home and we'd have the beach all to ourselves for the evening.

None of the five of us noticed the rising tide until it licked at the tires on the car. Daddy freaked.

People laughed their towels off at the hillbilly scrambling to save his car.
