Bilo is on the way out. I think they still own Winn-Dixie in Alabama and Florida. Most Ingles are investing more money in their stores while Bilo is closing stores.

I think the Aldi's and Lidl's are hurting some traditional southern grocers.
This much I can tell you, people are still eating. Probably more than ever.
Be kind of weird to have a Lidl scoreboard in Death Valley

for camping. She came home about a month ago with 6 bottles of Bordeaux, corked and wrapped. After I tasted it, I thought it was some of the best since our time in Chateauneuf du Pape in '15. Told her to go back for some more. She bought 36 bottles @ $1.99 per. I like that store.

Aldi maybe but there are so few Lidl groceries open it will be a while before they make an impact.
My son used to work at Aldi. Very glad that chapter is closed.
Some customers are so fanatical about them it's nutty.

First Aldi, then trader Joe's (other Aldi), and now Lidl.
What's next? Rewe, Edeka, real, netto, Norma ?
Where does it end!?!
In all seriousness, the German grocery store model is superior.

Bilo is owned by Winn-Dixie not the other way. It is called SE Grocers.

That's right.SE Grocers and all owned by private equity group I believe . Way more Winn Dixie stores left in Florida alone than BL all together. I think BL has dwindled their footprint down to pretty much SC anyway with a very few across the line in NC and GA.

BI-LO is just about over after (what?) it's 3rd or 4th reorganization? They just can't seem to make it work.
Stores closing - yes - but they have not been a discount grocer for years. We call it "BI-HI" because the prices are usually ultra-retail. I think in 3-5 years (or less) - they're all boarded up.

They do have an Anderson store. It's on main street in the Homeland Park area. There's also one out highway 24 several miles from downtown.

Bilo’s here in Charleston have been terrible for 20 years. Somehow they bought one of the old decrepit piggly wigglys and the place got worse. Ingles, Publix and Harris teeter are sucking up all the money making markets in SC.
