Arnie won't be hitting the opening shot at the Masters.

I guess he deserves a mulligan at 86 years old. Jack and Gary will be opening the tournament. Sad to see the greats getting old but have some terrific memories at Augusta. Lee Trevino chasing a squirrel on the 2nd tee. Chi Chi, Gary, and Seve having a skipping contest on the 16th during a practice round. Every single one of them skipped the ball 6+ times over the water onto the green. tom Watson hitting me with a tee shot during a practice round and apologizing. Getting autographs from Arnie and Jack (although I have no idea where they are). Watching amateur Tiger Woods out-drive Greg Norman on 17.
What are your favorite Masters memories?

Day 2. 1986. Following Jack.

Mom took me out of school (!!) -- 7th grade I think -- 'cause we got passes for the day. Drove down and followed Jack for about half the course. Watched him earn the jacket from home.
Awesome.

If it's your first time, walk the course.

The scenery is breathtaking. Pay attention to the name of each hole. The course was a former nursery and every hole is named for the Flora on that hole. If you get the chance, see the par 3 course. Even more breathtaking.
After that, pick a spot and watch the players come through. My favorite spots were the grandstand at 15 green near the top. You can watch them come in and play 15 then turn around and watch them tee off on 16. Another is underneath the announcer tower at 12. The great thing about Augusta is you can get there early, leave a lawn chair, and nobody will bother it.

listening to some of his stories about him and Howard Hughes and golf in the "old" days. That was in 1976 and twenty five years later to the day I ran into him at the Holiday Inn in Augusta and he spoke to me like he had just seen me.....although I doubt that he would have remembered our lunch.

Bless his heart Greg Norman had a huge lead going into the final round. I was driving back from I think Pennsylvania. By the time I got back, he lost the tournament.

If that was the year Mize won, I was there, one of only 2 Sunday rounds that I attended. There was such a mob that we couldn't see what happened, but the roar was deafening. We had to ask people who won. That was the year that I decided my living room was a better vantage point.

The past 3 times I've been... 2012 14 and 15, I've shown up at 6 in the morning with chairs and waited with a mob of people for the gates to open. As soon as they open, it is literally a foot race to put seats down on the 18th green. Been lucky to put the seats about 7 rows deep around the 18th. I guess members and families of golfers or whomever are allowed to put them down before they open the gates.

Mid 60s. My Dad took me and on #5 got to walk up the fairway with Gene Litler. It was so nice of him to make a kid's day. He had crushed a tee shot and I remember he said he didn't know what to hit to the green because he'd never hit one that far before.

after they drove on #10. I was standing in the trees down at the bottom of the slope. Both balls landed about 15 yards away from me. They stood up at the tee for awhile then left with their caddies. After about 10 minutes I stepped out there and got the balls. Still have them. One had a shark on it and one just had "The bear" on it. I kept expecting to see a green jacket any minute escort me off. PS - This was a practice round

Lots of good memories. Following Jack in '75. Loved to sit at the 16th hole. Having a sandwich on the grounds. Wish I were there in '86 when jack won it. Remember watching him on the back 9 in the dorm at Clemson house that Sunday.

And sandwiches and beer are ridiculously cheap compared to other venues, I remember ham sandwiches <$3.00.

because the women were already lined up and he was paying a couple people to handle that side of things for him. Back in the day the guys were more concerned with scanning the gallery than actually playing golf. Can't blame them, it's a frustrating sport that takes too long. They should put Tiger in that group if he is going into semi retirement.

The first time I went was in 2002

Around the 18th green, a cameraman gave me permission to sit with him on the front row to watch tiger finish his second consecutive Masters win. I got to see him sink the winning putt and hug his father right in front of me. I was 12 at the time.
I have two younger brothers my dad took so they went in 2003-04, and I got to go again in 2005. Without question the best memory is in 2005 when I was standing in view of the 16th green when tiger made that chip that hung on the lip for a second before falling in. One of the loudest roars I've ever heard in my life.
I've been very blessed to attend Sunday at the Masters several times in my life. I've seen Tiger win twice, Cabrera, Bubba twice, and Spieth las year.
Also last year, Rory was on the tee box on number 1 and I was standing by the fairway on the left side. He had the wind at his back and if I remember correctly he was paired with Phil. Anyway, he hit a drive which was probably the longest hit ball I've ever seen in my life. He must of been 60 yards past Phil.
Man, so many memories from Augusta. One bad one was last year. I had just stood in line to grab two beers, on the fairway some player hit his tee shot right and I put my two beers down for one minute to finish my sandwich, and some guy in front of me jumped back when the ball came our way and knocked both of my beers over.
Good times

Mid 60's Lee(the happy Mex) hit a drive next to me and several other guys. Once he checked his ball he came over to the guy next to me and gave him a 20 dollar bill. Told him.... "I'm hungry as He## buy me a sandwich and meet me going to the next tee".

I've been at least one day each year since 1975.
1. 1975, There use to be white benches on #16 on the other side of the pond. I was standing on a bench with my hands on my dads shoulders (12 years old) when Jack sank his 40 ft. putt.
2. 1987, I was on #11 when Larry Mize chipped in to beat Norman.
3. 1981, Watching Watson beat my hero Jack by 2.

But in 1982 I became a Craig Stadler fan. The crowd was openly pulling against him down the stretch, and as a 13 year old junior golfer, I was horrified at the lack of sportsmanship the most revered gallery in golf displayed. I never really liked Stadler myself, but started pulling for him...hard...after hearing the roar after his bogey on 16.
I have been a Stadler fan ever since!
Also, the three times I took someone who had never been before...two of them non-golfers (one being my wife).

It was the year Couples won. We were there for the whole thing. Thurs and Friday I sat at the range and got signatures... Drove my dad nuts! All he wanted to do was watch some golf and he sat there patiently and watched me get signatures. I had 2 hats filled with signatures... still have them. Walked most of the day on Sat and posted up at 16 on Sun. Great memories! Augusta is a special place.

I remember that time a few years ago when I was staying at one of the cabins on 10 and a loud bang caused me to get up from the bed. I went outside and kicked a golf ball out from under my car and some Irish kid walked up dejected about his shot and tried to hit out of the pine straw. Not sure what happened to him after that.
