way too predictable. A lot of times we went backwards on 2nd down which negated some good 1st down plays putting us in 3rd & Mid/3rd and Long

I haven't gone back and watched the game, but I felt like we were very predictable but it was also pretty successful. We ran the ball on almost every single 2nd and long. I feel like for the most part we were pretty successful in gaining some yards to give us a 3rd down and manageable. The way Louisville was playing their safeties, it gave us very little chance to pick up 3rd and long. This might be the reason for trying to ensure we got to 3rd and 6 or 7.

UL planned a pretty good game against us. They kept the play in front of them for the most part. They prevented the long drives because we would finally make a mistake on 3rd-and-long. It was a good game plan if your corners and safeties are darn good. Obviously, it was not quite good enough.

Plus - I really think we are trying our best to develop a running game. We are going to need that soon.

I'm surprised that you're not seeing that cunning scheme coming to fruition.
