Roy Philpott ?@RoyPhilpott 3m

Tyshon Dye is now 215 pounds. BOOM. Clemson RBs coach Tony Elliot told us that moments ago.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I bet Dye will be the starter by midseason

Jul 16, 2013, 10:45 AM

I just feel he will slowly but surely take over. Not because McDowell is doing bad but just because he has the size to be an everydown back and will wear opponents out at times.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That'll depend on how well he picks up blitz packages***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Apparently his offense in hs was very similar to Clemson's

Jul 16, 2013, 10:50 AM

so some are expecting him to pick it up quickly

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't know about that... they passed to him a lot... but

Jul 16, 2013, 10:52 AM

as far as scheme goes, I think Elberton ran something a lot like grayson with a ton of pre snap motion, but mostly multiple running backs.

that's just not the case. it looks like more of a Wing T than a spread. He was always in motion when he took a hand-off.

Whoever plays the RB position will have to be able to keep Tajh safe from blitzers. I doubt Dye had the overall blocking responsibility nor the caliber of defenders rushing his QB in HS that he will face in college.

And our Offense just keeps growing with threats. And we could put Gallman in the back field blocking and diving at Clowney's knees to give Tajh time to pick coots apart.

When Clemson plays against S.C. State after the Georgia game,.... Brooks, Dye, and Gallman are going to be taking the spotlight mostly on that day.

and hopefully we are 2-0 after S.C. State with the backups getting a lot of experience. Would have loved to see Kelly in this game.

Chad Kelly in the second game of the season? 6 months after ACL surgery?
I don't join you in hoping to see him out there.

Read closely next time

Jul 16, 2013, 11:18 AM

He said "would have loved to see"

Re: Read closely next time

Jul 16, 2013, 11:33 AM

"would have loved to see" switches tense in mid-sentence. I'm the victim here.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

But are you a "Special Victim?"***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's at 215 lbs. Guarantee he will get huge chunks

Jul 16, 2013, 11:22 AM [ in reply to I bet Dye will be the starter by midseason ]

of playing time.

OK, I'll throw out a name that he has the potential of at this size...Raymond Priester, my all-time favorite hard-nosed Tiger RB

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hopefully he runs like JD, not like Jamie Harper

Jul 16, 2013, 11:17 AM

We haven't had a bruising, 215 lb back in a while

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Harper would have been amazing in a Morris offense.***

In terms of pass-catching, I agree

Jul 16, 2013, 11:28 AM

But his running style never suited his body. He tried to run like CJ but had the body of Reggie Merriweather

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Morris would have put him in motion more and gotten him into

I think he ran that way because he thought he was saving himself for NFL. He seems to run harder there.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

RB by commitee...Does this surprise anyone, really

Jul 16, 2013, 6:31 PM

Long term, I think Dye is the man.

#21

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Would love to see Dye

Jul 16, 2013, 7:49 PM

Have an Emory Smith type moment in 4th quarter against coots to seal the deal on a great season.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Would love to see Dye

Jul 16, 2013, 9:15 PM

Not me, I hope we can run 667 points up on the coots. I do think that if possible, Dabo would run the score up on spurtrash.
