Ohio State is in Columbus. The city has been revitalized and is quite nice especially the park area at the river.

Columbus, Ohio is actually a thriving midwestern city. It is the Capitol of Ohio and home of Ohio State Univ. & the city is growing very, very rapidly. You cannot equate Cleveland and Columbus. I encourage you to explore the merits of other places beside those communities flailing at urban decay.

I haven't been on campus but did stay in Columbus for job training a few years back. I'll reiterate what the last few posters already conveyed.
It was in late August and actually nice. The people were friendly and I remember it being very green, and the leaves were just starting to turn so it was pretty. I don't remember it being "dumpy" at all. It was a neat little city.

It’s also got pretty massive borders. It’s not Houston when it comes to physical size but it’s larger than Philadelphia, Denver, Atlanta, and Seattle...it’s bigger than Boston, San Francisco, Washington DC and Miami combined (though those are all very small cities, geographically—just around 180 square miles all together).

This is the last nice thing I'll say about OSU for a while, but I went there for a weekend. Didnt get to see a football game but walked around the horseshoe, it really is a cool looking structure, as were the athletic buildings around it. Definitely would like to see a game there.
The campus is absolutely massive, especially compared to Clemson, and pretty packed in. Some nice architecture mix, but not overly impressive (versus some of my favorite campus settings like UVA, UC-Boulder, or UNC), lots of brick and blah high-rise dorms. Plenty of food and drink options on High Street. Tons of bars and nightlife, lots of fun.
The weather sucks balls and anytime I'm in Ohio for more than a couple days I want to open a vein, but from a campus/town perspective I'll give it a good review.
That all being said, UM is much nicer, Yuengling and Skyline Chili are trash, and 31-0 #######...

Have not been to Ohio State campus. Only been to Ohio once, to Cincinnati, which seemed a bit like an industrial wasteland. I didn’t visit around much, so there may have been nice areas that I didn’t see.

My daughter graduated from Clemson in 2016. She got a really good job that summer and had to train in Dayton (chit hole). After 3 months she started out in Cincy but lived in Florence KY. Long story short after 2 years in Ohio , she took a 15k a year cut. She was so happy to find the same job with a better company in the long run in Charlotte. She said she Ohio is the worst place in the world she has been to. She travels world wide with her job . Me and her mother visited a few times and I can see why they all come to SC.

jeez where did you hear that? Buckeye fans are no more obnoxious than Clemson fans. I've been to several Ohio State games at the Shoe, love college football and travel to se the traditions. Cleveland? Its actually a pretty nice city, weather sucks most of the time but there is alot to do there...
That is a good football team, what happened a few years happened a few years ago, it's going to motivate them way more than it motivates us. Dabo knows that and won't let that creep into the team mentality.
What does Cleveland have to do with Ohio State? which is in Columbus....

Been there. HUGE campus. More like a small city. Saw Ohio State vs.Michigan game in Columbus in 1974. Woody Hayes vs Bo Schembecler. 80,000 plus. It was electrifying.
I have attended several of the great sporting events in college football, basketball, PGA golf tournaments, horse racing and auto racing. (by the way, the PGA Presidents Cup will be held in Charlotte at Quail Hollow in 2021.) One of the best games and sporting events I have ever attended. Woody Hayes hated Michigan and it has to be one of the biggest rivalries in college FB. I don't think it garners the intensity it once did because the two schools don't vie for the National Championship as much as they used to, and the winner usually went to the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl has lost some of it's luster in the past decade.
Folks in Ohio are die hard OSU fans. I wish we played them on an annual basis, in Columbus and in Death Valley. It would be a heck of a series. Add UGA and we would have a great schedule.
Go Tigers!!

Could you imagine Ohio State playing in Death Valley in the heat of mid-Sept? Vice-versa, come on up to Columbus for a mid-November game in the Horseshoe.
Separately, I can't believe how much of circle jerk this thread is throwing shade at Ohio. I get it, there are ###### parts of Ohio but let's not pretend there aren't awful areas of SC. Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati all have improved tremendously. In fact, there are many comparisons between Charlotte and Columbus.

Great post. The thing that bothers me is how it’s moved beyond football banter. It’s attacking 12 million people and their way of life. I didn’t have a choice where I was born. I didn’t have a choice where I was raised. I’ve experienced the good and bad of the state. Ohio will always be a part of me, but it just didn’t resonate with my soul. A lot of people there make it work. It just isn’t right to trash the people and the state and how bad things are there (rightly or wrongly), and then turn right around and hate on the same people who leave the state looking for something better (especially when you have a direct marketing campaign to those people).

You people have no idea what you are talking about when it come to Ohio. Every major city in Ohio had been revitalized. Yes Ohio went through hard times, but the cities have done a great job reinventing themselves. I live in Dayton. and the housing they build downtown is sold before it is even built, and it is not cheap. Yes South Carolina is a beautiful state, but so is Ohio. The largest city in South Carolina would be about the sixth largest city in Ohio, so its a completely different world.

I've traveled around much of this world and have found good and bad in all places. Our attitude determines if we accentuate the positives or dwell on the negatives. I have found wonderful places wherever I have gone. But the most important aspect of any place is the people and I've found wonderful people wherever I have gone.
