Clemson platoon expelled...

Talking with my pops tonight he said there is a story in my family about my great grandfather Frank Walker Kitchen (Or Ketchen as it was changed to when our family moved from Richburg to Columbia many moons ago) Anyway, the story goes that on either April fool's or May day, right before graduation, their platoon marched into a town nearby in an "exuberant fashion" and apparently it was so bad they were expelled and couldn't graduate. Anybody else ever hear anything about this? It would've been around 1918ish. Thanks in advance for any insight

April 1, 1908 - Tiger football hopes of the 1908 season
were shattered on this day, not by what happened
in spring practice, but what 300 students did
as a college prank on April Fool’s Day. The cadets
were expelled for removing a Civil War cannon from
the town square of Pendleton, four miles down the
road from campus, and bringing the cannon back to
Clemson. Many of the football stars, as well as many
future stars, were among those who were expelled.

The March to Pendleton on April Fools!! My Grandfather used to talk about it often!!!!!!!!

When I started in 1966-67, there was a story about a small group of CU ROTC students "commandeering" a tank from the nearby National Guard Armory and driving in into the reflection pool at the RMC Library. Always sounded far-fetched, but you could actually see that a portion of the pool's sidewall had actually been repaired, and in light of some of the things I did in the subsequent years, I just don't know. Just sayin' ...
