Most folks know there are only 12 teams. If the headline said, "CU in top 10 of Learfield Cup standings," THAT would be sugar coating.

The problem I have is that the headline talks about standings in the ACC and the body of the article talks about national standings. I'll admit that was a bit of a bait and switch.

And it never gives details about what the Learfield Cup measures. Even in the "about Learfield Cup" section, they give one sentence to the cup description and the rest is about Learfield. BTW, what directors sponsor the cup? ...athletic directors, studio directors...

This wasn't one of the ACC promo office's better products.

We don't field nearly as many sports as many other ACC schools. We field 17, and Maryland has 27, UNC has 28, and Duke has 26. Unless this Learfield Cup has a way of calculating points based on teams fielded, all the schools with double the sports will have more points by default.

This illustrates the fact that we should field MORE sports.

I realize that there are budget issues, but why not add sports like men's and women's lacrosse, wrestling, etc. These are relatively inexpensive sports compared to football, especially since existing facilities can be used for these new sports to practice and play games.
