Has Alabama played a ranked team so far? Sorry I don’t follow them too closely!

No. Texas A&M is the best opponent they have played.

I consider Bama's 49-7 win over Southern Miss to be their signature win so far this year.

A&M was ranked #24 at the time Bama beat them and therefore pre-playoff will be added to the list of 'ranked opponents' that Bama has beaten.

Right now, A&M IS the list. If Tua is not recovered enough to beat LSU, and Auburn drops 2 games of their next 4 (both are real possibilities), Bama's résumé will only be Texas A&M.

Meanwhile, Clemson beat A&M when they were #12. But the spin pre-playoff will be 'Clemson hasn't beaten anyone that is CURRENTLY ranked'. Even though Clemson beat A&M when they were ranked higher.
