Question for AOC type liberals
Feb 9, 2019, 8:58 AM
|
|
DO you think the vast majority WANT or DESIRE to work? If given the chance to sit at home and be comfortable most folks would take a pass on working and paying the enormous taxes required for that pipe dream. Gotta give Pelosi props for slapping her down but she is 75 and there are a bunch of freloaders coming of age and unless she is Weekend at Bernie's she is waging a losing battle with her party. Sadly the voting population is not smart enough to grasp that the rich cannot pay for it all and they will redifine "rich" as they need more taxes. Soon everyone will be declared rich if one makes more than the dole handed out.

free loaders, like that line item in my pay check for social security and medicare, two programs that will likely be bankrupted by the same old farts that rang up 23 trillion in debt? Tell me again about who the real free loaders are...

Balm , I was thinking you were smarter than that??. SS and Medicare have always been a pyramid scheme and was never intended to pay out as long as they are currently. Want someone to blame then I suggest modern medicine and lack of political testicular fortitude to move required age to 70-72. Do not fret as Boomers are gonna die and Millennials are now the largest demographic entering prime working and tax years.

Read all of your words before your second comma.

Stop. Repeat 10 times. There's you answer.
The rest is your typical hyperglandular Flower induced by RAG circle jerk. Do you usually have these rages getting Latte instead of Expresso at your internet coffee shop?

Poor Balm is just stuck on the liberal mantra that all his problems are Boomer induced when the true causes stare back at him in the mirror each morning.

Tigerbalm … You're generally right and specifically wrong regarding SS and Medicare. When I retired at 64, I had contributed almost $400k to SS and about $125k to Medicare. I'm 71 now, and I haven't come close to re-capturing my Medicare contribution … not to mention what I pay now for it, the supplemental insurance and prescription drugs. Oh! And I wish I had the $400k in my own 401k rather than supporting those that went before me. And I did nothing to add to the debt! Some things never change! Get over it!

I run a small business. As an owner

I don't take anything out of your check. I pay you. Out of the same account I pay double the amount that is shown on your check to the IRS for social security and medicare for your behalf. I also pay double those amounts for my behalf. The check I write to the IRS every month dwarfs the check I write to my self by a large margin.
The fun part is when business is down and you have to still write huge checks but none to yourself and you get to figure out a way to make payroll without losing everything you own.

I couldn't imagine not working. Heck, if I got paid for

nothing, I'd still work doing something, Charity work or whatever. I don't understand how someone can sit around and do nothing and be happy. I've got to be working, or if not working, helping someone else somehow.
Most people do not think or "working" as helping others, but that's exactly what it is. If it didn't help others, you wouldn't be paid to do whatever you're doing.

I get that Tiggity, I retired already once but at 56 found it was far too young to just stop. Then again I and you may be from the last generation that puts value upon work and being productive.

if you provide people with things like education (no hard worker ever went to public school) they'll just sit at home all day and watch their stories. Not you though, you're part of that walk uphill both ways to your job at the rock quarry generation.

No skippy, one deserves what they put in the time and sweat to earn. You still have not read a thing on her proposals have you? Maybe once you do we can discuss it but till then you are totally ignorant and seem to relish in said ignorance.
I have yet to see anything ever obtained for free ever be treated with value nor respect. That slope is littered with excuses and entitlement. Yes, I earned all I have attained in life through choices, hard work and sacrifice and as such have an appreciation of what it took.
You have fun living in denial, ignorance and entitlement but I find you generally sorta pathetic. Do tell just where the money for paying those that desire not to work a secure financial life, quality housing for all, free tuition and medical will magically come from? A’int enough rich to take all their money to fund that pipe dream and once it is spent it is gone.

Preach on, all these weenies who feel "entitled" to security from foreign and domestic threats because big government provides them with military and police for free. Lazy Americans should get off their butts and protect their own borders, solve their own crimes.

Your true ignorance is now showing skippy, those services are provided in Federal,State and local taxation. Do try again, you are not nearly as smart as you think you are in reality.
Let me clue you in on another item in your liberal agenda and that pertains to University for all free of cost. DO you wonder why a degree is kinda way below what you think it should pay? Well that is due to supply and demand, mo degrees = lower wages, simple Econ101 in fact. The greater push for everyone to have a degree outpaces demands thus leading to lower wages. Ever wonder why a plumber makes more than many degree holders? I explained this to several Engineers crying that lowly aviation mechanics made more than they did, a degree usually means your job is less physically demanding not necessarily higher paying.

The problem is, there may come a point where automation and artificial intelligence render us so productive that we simply won't need full employment to keep us fed and comfortable. When that happens, something like universal basic income might be part of a solution. Those who want to work can have more, but everyone gets something.
But I don't think we're close to there yet.

While that may be true I would suggest the only viable way to pay for it is business taxation levels in the 80%-90% levels. Given those liberal CEO’s in Ca. And Seattle have thrown hissy fits on taxation to alleviate homelessness recently I think they will blow a gasket on those levels.

Yes I agree that the answers will change as do the circumstances. Pondering it though leads me to think that it will require a total blow up of how the economy and financial structure exists.
