Advice from Molecular Virologist who worked on this Virus 45 yrs ago..

Mar 12, 2020, 10:20 AM

* Drink warm water (lots of it & no ice water) since this virus hates warmth or heat.

* Take Vitamin C.

* If feeling you have “Cold-like” symptoms take Zinc Lozenges and lie down to allow them to dissolve in throat.

* Don’t touch Eyes or Nose (we average this 90 times a day unknowingly).

* Cover up a sneeze with sleeve or handkerchief since virus can live for over a week.

* Use hand sanitizers.

* Wash hands often especially after touching door handles, bank ATM key boards, gas station pump handles, etc. This virus can live on metal surfaces up to 10 days.

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

We boiled water in a pot and inhaled the steam

when I was a kid--helped kick the cold virus. Maybe we need to think about what used to work since we have no vaccine. (We tried to catch it before it got to the lungs.)

I heard alcohol needs to be 120 proof to kill germs and bacteria so it looks like everclear and moonshine for me.

Great advice and should absolutely be followed

Mar 12, 2020, 11:38 AM

But this strain did not exist 45 years ago. That's why nobody has any immunity built up and it's ravaging at risk individuals way more than normal viruses like the flu. All the more reason to follow this great advice.

I know I'll be fine if I get it, but I'm very worried about my grandparents in their assisted living community. It ravaged the one old folks' home in Seattle.

I don't think I believe the warm water part.

1. The virus seems to do well in a 98.6oF .
2. The virus is in the respiratory system; I would think warm water would do little to heat up the respirator system, especially considering the body's temperature regulation. If the virus hates heat, maybe it would be better to inhale hot air. Go to FGF; there is typically a lot of it there. ??

Copper is a natural antimicrobial surface.

They need to consider making atm keys and things from copper in the future.

If heat is the key, then why aren't all those with fevers cured all ready?

I think there is confusion on this. It doesn’t survive well in heat on its own. I think once it’s infected a body heat isn’t going to kill it. Our bodies are 98 degrees and it sticks around for a long time.

There is a high viral load in the back of the throat. The is why you lie down and suck on a zinc lozenge. Zinc will compete with the virus for the receptors to get into your cells. You will still get infected but there will be a lower viral load. Gargle with hot water, the hottest you can take. Who knows if this will work, but some in China said it helped.
