Spud's driveway in Sugartit...ro find him standing out in the front yard shooting wildly into the air with a Smith and Wesson .38. I said ," Granddaddy, what the heck are you doing?". Well sirs, he said, "I am shooting these dang carpenter bees on the wing with .38's loaded with rat shot". Jumping ahead to this morning,Mrs. Spud runs in from the front porch and informs me that huge wasps are coming out of her flower stand. Now boys, I like to think I have evolved from the barbaric standards of my great grandfather and I would never shoot insects with a .38......However, they are quite sporty with a full can of Black Flag!

MY grand dad was a hornet killer. He was deadly splashing just a cup of gas on their nest. they were dead before they hit the ground

Those Cicada Killers made part of my yard look like a links style golf course. I have several new strategically set bunkers now.

Down here in lower Florence/upper Williamsburg counties we have the huge burg called Hog Eye. Charlie Walker(The Mouth of the South) was proud of it.....
