picking up Andre with a steal pick in the 6th. Charlotte and the surrounding area is filled with Tiger fans that would bring a lot more support to that club, but they continuously shun the paw. I don't get it. That was a total fail.

They always take coot players that always end up being busts, but never take Clemson players. No wonder the Panthers struggle to be good.

Barner isn't a bad pick, but AE is better than him….

Barner is faster, but AE is a tough runner and breaks more tackles.

Barner is younger, faster, more explosive, and less injury prone. AE is a great guy and I wish him the best in the NFL. I also love Clemson, that does not mean however that every Clemson player is better than every other player in the country like some here seem to believe.

Clearly you haven't been following the panthers for too long. Don't ever under estimate their ability to be out of touch. They are consistently out of touch. Today is no different. From a true panther fan, he's better off in AZ.

Brandon Lafell or Captian Munnerlyn are perfect examples of the Panthers not picking good players.

I was thinking yesterday about NFL teams taking local players. If I owned a team I think in the later rounds I would be looking for local guys. Not if its obvious that there is someone better but if you are on these late round picks it usually isnt obvious. I would go local every chance I got. For example, what if the panthers made it a point to pick up some usc, clemson, unc, etc every year if they had the chance? It would generate a ton of interest. For local interest the Panthers should have took AE instead of the RB from Oregon. At this point in the draft there isnt a huge noticeable talent difference in these guys.

It isn't like Kenjon Barner was a scrub in college and he had a faster 40.

Ellington ran 4.61 at the combine and 4.51 unofficial at Pro Day. Barner ran an official 4.52. Assuming there is no human error in AE's time, they are essentially the same speed.

I am a huge clemson fan, but to think the panthers draft based on where someone went to school is ridiculous. They evaluate players based on their own criteria. On your point about drafting local players, Hurney did that with edwards and it got him fired. If the panthers win, the fans will show up. I want to give the new gm a chance. He obviously has a plan that is different than hurney's thank goodness.
We all know there are injury concerns with Andre and he didn't exactly blow people away with his speed. That being said, I think Arizona got great value with the pick and I also think Andre will have better opportunity to get on the field in Arizona.

You are correct. He traded a high pick the following year to move up and take Edwards who probably would have been available in the 5th or 6th round. Let's not forget he did the same thing for Everette Brown. I also agree he should have been gone, but the Edward's deal sort of sealed the deal I think. Big cat made excuses because Hurney was a good friend.

to win and their fans still didn't show up. Just face it, Charlotte is a terrible sports town, their fans don't show up when their winning. In fact Charlotte is the Columbia of North Carolina.

I've been watching the draft since then and year in and year out the Panthers continuously disappoint with their draft picks. clemsonsuzi could draft better by throwing darts at the draftboard
