the acc don't need to scrap the 11th game don't forget coastal Carolina lost south Carolina off their schedule the the sec went conference only games so Clemson could schedule them as their 11th game.

Yes they do. It was just intended to force the SEC’s hand on the cross-conference rivalries, thinking they would be too embarrassed to look scared. Apparently, they don’t mind everyone knowing that they are scared.

Wouldn't that improve our SOS more so than USUC? I mean the sec took two of their season losses away. Heck, they may play for the sec championship now LOL :)

I'm sorry, but a 6th home game would be huge for

the local economy.

Clemson has always fought hard the 7th home game. Now we sit at 6 as best case scenario.

Yes. They need to scrap it now, shrink the season a game,

Aug 8, 2020, 11:17 PM [ in reply to ACC needs to scrap the 11th game now. ]

and give us a small chance of whippin' the coots at the end of the season when the SEC changes their mind.

How will all the contractual obligations work with all these cancelled games, the 1.1M to Akron and 400 or 500K due citadel? Is this going to be never ending court battles to ubwind this mess nationwide?

Re: TNET: Clemson football non-conference options in doubt

Aug 8, 2020, 1:35 PM

I think there is something written in the contract that if something like covid 19 happen they wouldn't have to pay the money

Force majeure clauses are in all these contracts. Not in just football but most major event contracts

If not, it should be, and I don't see a court awarding any money under the pandemic conditions causing cancellations!!!

Akron is not playing due to their conference decision. Citadel possibly not playing due to lack of players. So, they are the reason the games are not being played. Not Clemson.

If anything they owe us some cash.

Clemson administration would never pursue any financial gains from a small schools that agrees to play Clemson when it helps to fill the schedule year to year!!!

Any possibility of adding Coastal Carolina? They got dropped by usc due to SEC rules. Good in-state program and are D-1 (Sunbelt Conference).

you and I are thinking same thing like you said coastal Carolina is a good fbs school and you will be able keep the money in state.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Again, no reason SC game can't be played.

Aug 8, 2020, 1:51 PM

SEC doesn't start until 9/26, our non-conf game & 1 of open dates is the two weeks preceeding that. Unfortunately figure that's gonna take govt interference & that's probably gomna end up being 11th hour (spoke to my local rep in the SC State House, he said that they're out of session until Sept unless special legislation comes up)

Figure Furman, Wofford, & Coastal Carolina might be getting called, maybe Charleston Southern

Re: Again, no reason SC game can't be played.

Aug 8, 2020, 2:47 PM

it can't be Wofford or furman because they are in the same conference as the citadel and the southern conference are thinking about playing games in the spring. so it is either coastal Carolina, east Carolina or how about usf

Possibly S.C. State?

Re: Again, no reason SC game can't be played.

S.C. state can't play Clemson because their conference cancel fall sports including football

BYU is available September 19

Aug 8, 2020, 2:09 PM

BYU has an open date on September 19 like Clemson. If the Cougars are willing to come to Death Valley, that is an option.

From article my friend sent:

"The Cougars currently have six opponents lined up: Navy (Sept. 7), Utah State (Oct. 2), Houston (Oct. 16), Boise State (Nov. 6), San Diego State (Nov. 14) and North Alabama (Nov. 21).

In other scheduling news, North Carolina of the ACC added Charlotte to its schedule on Saturday, meaning that every ACC team but Clemson has added a nonconference opponent as permitted by the league.

The Tigers have an opening Sept. 19, the day BYU was scheduled to play at Arizona State."

Well, BYU upsets FSU last season

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: BYU is available September 19

Huh? BYU didn’t play FSU last year. The Cougars lost to USF in 2019, if that’s what you might be thinking of.

that would be a good choice of a non conference game if there willing to come but it might be coastal Carolina since their closer to home

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Clemson football non-conference options in doubt

Aug 8, 2020, 2:17 PM

USF would be great. UCF would also love the opportunity to beat a highly ranked opponent

I heard that also but they are in the same conference as the citadel and the southern conference might cancel football until spring.

I would like that app. state matchup but be careful app. state is a great group of five team and that would be a scary game for Clemson in week 2. another matchup that I like as well would be a game with the marshall thundering herd they are available that week as well and that would be a rematch from 1999.
