2020 FB TIGERS

Mar 2, 2020, 4:25 PM

I had the pleasure of attending All Pro Dad's day with my son Saturday. This was our 2nd year attending. It was a great experience and is really a good way to bond with your son or daughter. If you haven't been it's worth the $25.

After the program ended we were able to watch the team run drills and have a small scrimmage. I have a few obsvervations that I will pass along.

1) The size of this years DL is exponentially greater than last year's. Bressee and Murphy are different breeds, but Jordan Williams was probably the best DT of the group during the drills and then in the scrimmage. I'd say it was Gregg Williams day at DE.

2) The secondary has a ton of speed. All of the corners can cover well. Williams was really impressive and even though he is a little lean I wouldn't be surprised to see him starting. I do not know who #9 is but he was everywhere at S. He seemed faster than anyone on the field. Zander looked good as well.

3) It's the same old song an dance at RB. I was surprised to see Etienne fumble twice during drills. Lyn J looks amazing his sudden quickness was really showing up in the drills. Mikey Dukes has great hands. He didn't not drop one ball that I saw.

4) Same soup just reheated at WR. Ngata stands out like a sore thumb with the WR group. EJ Williams is crazy fast and tall. He's lean like Tee was when he came in but he still can high point a ball and use his body to his advantage. Amari Rodgers was the most impressive of the group. He was breaking DB's ankles left and right. Spector looked good as well.

5) The QB's are all large individuals haha. Dj Uiagalelei has tree trunks for legs and a cannon for an arm. TP is definitely the fastest of the group and he may have the strongest arm of all 3 but he needs to be a little more consistent.

6) The LB group looks good. Mike Jones is really fast. He got matched up Rodgers where Rodgers ran a little slant and go, and he was step for step with him the whole way. Skalski was getting very chippy during some of the drills. I think he wants to play football year round with no breaks lol.

7) Braden Galloway is gonna be the man at TE. He looks like a monster until you see him beside Lay. Lay is a mountain of a man and he is fast! He seems to really take his blocking seriously as well. I'm looking forward to seeing what this group does.

It's a great time to be a Tiger!!

Looks like #9 on D could be RJ Mickens the safety from Texas

Correct - #9 on D is Mickens. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of him this fall.

Thanks for the update. How'd the OL look?

OL is large as well. Tayquon Johnson is a monster. If he gets the techniques down he will be a major factor by the time he leaves Clemson. He reminds me of John Simpson. Carman looked like he has slimmed down a little more. He has quick feet for a big man. Jordan McFadden will make some noise this year too. He was moving guys around with a lot of intensity.
