1981 vs. 2015 Dates

[35]
Posted: Nov 5, 2015 2:20 PM

Has anyone else noticed the correlation between the dates of the schedules in 1981 and 2015.

Our first game each season was September 5th.

Our open date was September 26th.

We played a game on each of the exact same dates as this year except the SCar game (only because we played one less game).

We gave up the most points on Halloween.

If this was mentioned before, I didn't see it - sorry guys!

That is some Lincoln-Kennedy type stuff there!

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

The names Lincoln and Kennedy each contain seven letters.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.

Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.

Both were shot in the head.

Lincoln's secretary, Kennedy, warned him not to go to the theatre.
Kennedy's secretary, Lincoln, warned him not to go to Dallas.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.

Both were succeeded by Southerners.

Both successors were named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.

Both names are comprised of fifteen letters

Booth ran from the theater and was caught in a warehouse.
Oswald ran from a warehouse and was caught in a theater.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

A month before Lincoln was assassinated he was in Monroe, Maryland.
A month before Kennedy was assassinated he was in Marilyn Monroe.

If Jadaveon Clowney is the standard of living up to the hype then I'm golden.

Clemson beat Miami by 58 point in 2015. The only other time they beat a conference team by 58 was Wake Forest in 1981. I think there might be some more similarities.

Good call! I'm sure there are a ton that I missed because I only ran across it 20 minutes ago.

Big game on Nov 7 of both years. @UNC in 1981***

before the $CU football team manages to eclipse the.500 mark again.

Up to this point. The largest win of the season was by 58 points. Clemson 58 Miami 0 2015 Clemson 82 WF 24 1981

Didn't Clemson open with Wofford that year?

Posted: Nov 5, 2015 3:33 PM

I already know the answer

Yes...and the final score was nearly identical

45 - 10 v. 49 - 10

Heck, while we are at it: when we won the title, I was 34.

Now, I'm 68.....that's 34 X 2. YES LAWD, TWO.....And this would be our TITLE NUMBER FREAKING TWO!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO, DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGIC? lol

Alabama boy leading the team. Great defense. Wonder kid QB from Georgia.

We can keep the correlations going forever it seems.

A few more oddities:

[1]
Posted: Nov 5, 2015 5:10 PM

In 1981, our coach was Danny Ford; in 2015, it's Dabo Swinney.....Neither would grace the pages of GQ magazine.

Danny Ford used to sweat a lot; Dabo Swinney uses a lot of sweat------shirts.

Danny Ford liked to chew tobacco; Dabo Swinney likes to chew fat.

Danny Ford played for the Bear; Dabo Swinney uses a bear...as BV's "hold back" guy.

Danny Ford originally coached under a guy named Pell; Dabo Swinney coaches some guys who use Pell.

Danny Ford got a farm and bought a tractor; Dabo Swinney met Kathleen...and attracked her.

OK, that's enough........lol
