Everyone knows that we beat an awfully good Nebraska team in January of 1982 to win it all , 22-15 . However , many have forgotten that that first NC was framed by 2 bowl losses . Who were the teams that we were beaten by , and in what bowl games ? No googlation , please !

Did we lose to Baylor in 79? I don't think we went to a bowl in 80. Peach maybe?
After 81 we were on probation a couple years. Can't remember who we lost to next.
Without googling...

Funny you asked that today. I watched the 1981 Natl Championship Game on DVD today. Awesome game with some unbelievable athletes on both sides of the ball. And what I would give to have Dale Hatcher, freshman then, punting for us today. Only bad thing about watching was how horrible the tv broadcast was back then.

We lost the 79 Peach bowl to Baylor, it was as cold as ice that day in Atlanta, 24-18. No bowl in 80, national champs in 81. The NCAA, and ACC stuck it to us, and we did not return to a bowl game until 85, lost to Minnesota in the Independence bowl. Lou Holtz had just left Minnesota for Notre Dame before our game. The one thing I cannot remember, was Mike Singletary on that Baylor team, or had he already graduated. Billy Lott almost brought us back@!

Correct , lost to Baylor in the 79 Peach bowl and then lost to Minnesota in the 85 Independence Bowl.

Oh man! I was there. Fulton County Stadium(home of the Braves). Possibly the coldest I've ever been! The wind would cut right thru you. Baylor kicked our tail pretty good but we did make a run late.
