Well, about 90% or so are claiming asylum falsely. Economic opportunity has never been a reason for asylum. Plus, if they are after asylum, international law has a concept of the first country of asylum. For people from Honduras and Guatemala, that's Mexico. And since Mexico has, in fact, offered asylum, continuing to the US is indicative that the asylum claim is bogus. So fraudulently claiming asylum makes them illegal aliens.

No its doesnt make them illegal. They think they qualify for asylum and they are leaving it up to us to decide. There is nothing illegal about it. They are breaking no laws. We need to change these asylum laws. Its nuts. Its only going to get worse. These people pay the cartels 3k to 8k per person. The cartels are instructing them how to seek asylum. If most asylum seekers have good intentions, and are in great need of asylum then why has there been an enormous spike this year? Why are we on record pace? Do you think this is sustainable long term? Or do you just like to argue with people?
We both agree that the laws need to change. You seem to think this isn't the liberals fault, or the fact that our current immigration policy was put in place during the Obama years which is why we have this problem.

Pubs had two years to pass whatever they wanted and did nothing. They even had a deal in place including more than he wanted for the boarder wall before the last election and Trump shot it down because he thought he could get even more after the "red wave" he predicted.
Trump and Pub legislators only have themselves to blame for not getting anything through when they could have. Dems know it is a key issue for the president so will use it to get things they want and/or milk it for all it is worth.

These caravans are coming up from South and Central America with mixed intentions. The majoritiy are doing as you say, trying to overwhelm the system at the border by caliming asylum. But many from the caravans are going the old route of illegaly crossing the border.

I could stop it in a few days, deploy the National guard along the border. Each unit has 2 weeks active duty yearly, we have over 470,000 soldiers, assign each unit a 2 week tour to supplement regular forces training along the border. Place snipers in strategically necessary places to take out "handlers" who are heavily armed assisting illegals. Turn everyone around, allow no one to cross the border. Then deduct the costs of said deployments from the aid packages we give Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. Problem would be solved quickly. but there is to much common sense in this so our government would never figure it out!

So we use our citizen soldiers to execute foreign nationals without due process and then deny the asylum seekers the right to apply for entrance to the USA. To me that means that "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" will have perished from the earth. I cannot imagine the life these people have to endure that causes them to leave their home and family and walk hundreds of miles toward an unknown ending point, toward a dream . I know a few who live and work here. The are pleasant, competent people who only want to work for a livable wage. Industrious and intelligent, they will, given the chance, rise above their current state and become business owners whose children will be well educated and help "make America great again". (I say that tongue in cheek because I believe the USA is currently the greatest country on earth and the influx of competent people will only help it stay that way.)
