Does the Republican Party split after this?

Into the party of Trump and the establishment?
Trump pulls his die hard brown coats, I mean supporters?
The rest of the party wanders aimlessly in the wilderness for 4 years?

I think they just rebrand to try to lure more moderates back to their side in the next election.

The party will get more nuts. Moderates don’t stand a chance against the Dems. People like Romney will get destroyed (like he did). To compete with disgusting, you have to be disgusting.

I don't like this kind of debasing of politics, but I get it. Win at all costs. Sounds fun.

It would be more likely the Dems split if Biden does not do all the things the left wing wants.

I would actually prefer four parties. Maybe we could get some new ideas on the table and see where people really stand.
Plus some of those parties would have to compromise and work together to get anything done.

When families are attacked by outside sources they hunker down and fight as a unit. When nations are attacked by foreign nations the parties set aside their politics and defend all citizens of their nation.
An overwhelming percentage of republican, some independents and even some democrats believe this election was fixed and weighted to elect Biden. I think pubs form a tighter bond for at least the coming decade.

I got that from polls which were taken a couple weeks ago. I think it was 78% pubs, nearly half the indys and 30% dem. Check em out, if that's inaccurate I'll admit I was wrong. I think the last one I read said 46% overall believe the election was rigged for Biden.
If you research that will you do it with a reputable poll group and promise to report it here?

the reasons a large number of people believe that there was a coordinated effort to change the outcome of the election. The facts just don’t support this...but there has been such a coordinated media and social media disinformation campaign that otherwise rational people truly believe something nefarious occurred.
This is one of the reasons I don’t think we will be able to find common ground going forward. As long as people give life to this type of assault/manipulation of the truth (from either side) there’s no way we can effectively govern...regardless of party.

No they don't.
The independents and Dems and even Lincoln Party Republicans/RINO's/Never-Trumpers like me think election fraud is a QAnon conspiracy theory.
You have a fair-sized fringe that believe it but it's still a fringe...though it's sizeable enough to be absolutely crippling because the more you push that narrative the more you're divorcing yourself from your own biggest lever of power - the ballot box and the fact that historically the Republicans have always showed up to it despite being less numerous for quite awhile now.
Change that and you're just an angry minority bent on giving away its own power. GOP party insiders are freaking out at the potential damage this conspiracy theory is doing to them. It's about to give away the Senate after the GOP Senate candidates overperformed contrary to expectations down-ballot from Trump and had the GOP poised to hold at least one chamber and put a break on any progressive agenda or appointments. That surprising victory is just about to be for naught.
The Dems are just like: have at it. When your enemy is making mistakes, don't interrupt 'em. And the Pubs are making a huge one embracing this crazy.

and run with it. The fact that Trump beat Hillary Clinton, then lost a somewhat close election to Joe Biden, if you had a rational person and a good leader, who took Trump's positions on the issues, the GOP would win bigly.
No the party doesn't split. Hopefully they learn from their mistakes. All things aside, you have to admit, Trump was 10 times more change than we ever saw with Obama. He also provided massive hope as well, that we never vote for a populist like Trump again.

Right or wrong, as much as Republicans have the become the party of Qanon and Trump, The Dems have become the party of socialism, rioting, the Green New deal, wokeness and getting rid of free speech on college campuses.
To the real majority of America who only vaguely cares about politics every 4 years, one of those is easier to dismiss and one is a lot easier to believe. If Dems want to win, and win bigly, they need to become much more centrist and squash the "squad" and the AOC's of their party.

Dec 2, 2020, 11:29 AM

heard him answer the "why" question. He knows who is not represented in America. It's a LOT of people. It's me, and still is even with his election. Trump sticks his finger in the air, and runs with what sells. A good realtor can look at a piece of crap house, find the hidden jewels, and sell it for a premium. That's Trump's background. And he struck a nerve.
That being said, he's a horrible leader of people. Live enough life and you can spot the Trumps of the world a mile away. My hope was he was one of the types, like a good lawyer, who acts one way (usually dumb in court), but is silently a genius in getting his way, and a verdict. That sadly wasn't the case. Instead of tactfully luring Congress to his views, he attacked his opposition relentlessly. They naturally recoiled. He got nothing done as a result. He's a ruler by nature, not a leader. Humility is a powerful tool when used properly. Trump has none.
But no, the GOP isn't going to splinter. One plus, I think (hope) is that the dems actually take notice of what really happened with Trump. He showed exactly how BAD their party is in the eyes of the American people. For someone like Hillary (in their eyes) to lose to someone LIKE Trump, that's a punch in the gut. BUT, after 4 years of Trump, for America to even keep the election remotely close, against the next biggest dem star, that's really another punch in the gut.
Trump is all or nothing. Win or don't play. But if someone in the GOP can rise on his platform, and get just half of what Trump promised out of Congress, THAT would be an effective leader. That leader gets 4 more years, and gets even more out of Congress. And they leave office collectively in two terms enacting major changes.

Biden pisses off the left and they form the SocialWokeism party. Trump keeps on keeping on and eventually forms a Trump AKA those woke people want too many changes that scare me Party.
The rest of us in the middle form a Republicrats party (or Demopubs) that governs from the broad center working together and trying to stop making party politics the goal of every deliberation. Then the two extremes can brawl each other in an ideological cage match without ever taking power again.

You will never get it. Trump supporters like myself aren’t scared of change, gays, blacks, healthcare, illegals, etc.
What angers us is being taxed to death for social causes that fix absolutely NOTHING! EVER!!!

"brown coats". When one considers the rioting, looting, intimidation, attacks, "cancelling" by left-leaning people and organizations...the demands for conforming to their agenda, public destruction, etc...compared to that on of the right-leaning organizations. But I guess it's all in perspective.
2) I don't think anyone knows what Trump will do. Hopefully just move on. I think if he remains a force in politics, it could very well divide the Republicans, in which case it would almost certainly result in Democrat rule and would take a leader of exceptional skill and vision to lead the non-Trump Republicans.

That's the problem.
The GOP has become the Party of Trump, a cult of personality dedicated to a single leader. I had no idea how susceptible the party was to that; it floored me. And scared me...because if Trump can do that to the Republicans, it's going to be even easier to sell rich-verses-poor class-based populism from the left, it just isn't going to be Bernie - or AOC, honestly - who can do that. But the right voice who can play that Angry Rebel Leader trope assuredly could.
And the problem with Trump is, he's a sociopathic narcissist, devoted to nothing beyond his own enrichment and aggrandizement. He isn't about to move on. For him it's all about him, him, precious him. Heck, this lie he's pushing about election fraud is about to cost the Dems the Senate because it almost ensures his voters who believe that won't show up in Georgia's runoffs...does he care? Nope. Of course he doesn't. The GOP can burn for all he cares as long as he stays Alpha Dog.
He's going to be a lead anchor around the neck of the party as long as he's alive, because the GOP is simply not going to be able to move on from him.
