The most underrated back Clemson ever had.

Feb 17, 2015, 4:57 PM

Lester Brown. The Rubber Duck.

Yep. The Ricochet Rabbit Stacy Driver.***

Chad Jasmin?

Feb 17, 2015, 5:00 PM

Duane Coleman (not bad at CB either)?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Travis Zachery

Feb 17, 2015, 5:19 PM

Had a great running style

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He also sold a fat sack

I agree. Gallman reminds me of him so much runs with balance and good body lean.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Gallman is a lot faster than Zachary.***

Funny. I always thought he was pretty underwhelming - not particularly strong or fast.

Chuck McSwain, Cliff Austin, and Marvin Sims***

Feb 17, 2015, 5:28 PM

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Cliff Austin, most definitely (of the ones mentioned so far)

Feb 17, 2015, 5:34 PM

He was a good one and actually had a decent run in the NFL. Split carries with McSwain, another good RB - woulda been THE feature back for most teams.

Agreed Chuck. He left as our number 2 rusher and was our starting TB on the national championship team. Go #35!!!

Kevin Mack, Tracy Perry,

Doubt he was the most underrated, but, he was one of them. Pretty solid NFL career too!

My Ken Callicutt story........

My generation.......he wouldn't go to class........Red got an equipment manager to go wake him up and take him to class......he would go in one door, wait 30 seconds, and walk out the door on the other side......just folklore but I believe it......great special teams player for the Lions. Defined tough.

I'll never forget CTB pulling him out when USuCk could do

Feb 17, 2015, 7:09 PM

nothing to stop him while we were driving for the winning TD. The entire stadium (whom were all chanting "Reggie, Reggie Reggie"), including Reggie, couldn't believe he got pulled out at that moment.

I still think Ray scored that touchdown against South Carolina. Refs said he didn't make it across the goal.

All for one and one for all.

He was a #### of a RB, don't know that he's under rated

though as he was All-ACC at least once.

but honestly, the first person I thought of was indeed The Rubber Duck

Feb 17, 2015, 6:45 PM

More Reggie!!!

Thanks Tommy.... You baffoon !!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Some others: Joe Henderson, Emory Smith, Rudy Harris

Feb 17, 2015, 11:34 PM

Harris was one of the most physically talented backs we have ever had here. In today's game he would have converted to a HB instead of FB. Unfortunately Hatfield was still stuck in the 70's and could not get out of the Fullback mindset . Emory was just a load to bring down. Another one not mentioned but an absolute Coot Killer was Tony Kennedy who ran all over the Coots in the 45-0 debacle at Billy Brice. Joe Henderson from Freehold N.J. had some jets.

Travis Zachary gets my vote.

Feb 17, 2015, 6:57 PM

Had great hands out the backfield and was a touchdown machine inside the redzone.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's not anymore for sure, but Ellington didn't

Feb 17, 2015, 7:00 PM

seem to get the credit I believe he deserved while he was here. Now that he's gone, we see how pivotal he was for an all around good O. He's certainly in the limelight now.

Greg hood.lol the back that no one remembers but I always liked him when I was a kid. He was so little but could move.

Re: He's not anymore for sure, but Ellington didn't

Feb 17, 2015, 10:10 PM [ in reply to He's not anymore for sure, but Ellington didn't ]

Agree. Loved, loved, loved Ellington. He was just in CJ's shadow. I remember thinking that we would be ok in the post-CJ era every time he gave CJ a breather.

I also always liked Bernard Rambert. I think that was mostly because he was the #2 SC HS running back behind Derrick Watson. We definitely got the better college back and better person. Funny how the more things change, the more they stay the same.

McDowell. Not even close. Stud

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Raymond Priester

Feb 17, 2015, 7:10 PM

Never gets the credit he deserves because he wasn't flashy, but he was first or second team All-ACC three times.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Priester made the tough yards whenever we needed.

Feb 18, 2015, 7:11 AM

I would rate he and Flagler the best in that regard that we ever had.

Joe Henderson. Terrific back that lived in Terry Allen's shadow but would have been a star anywhere else. The two formed a great one-two punch.

Feb 17, 2015, 7:52 PM

What about Zachary

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Polio Petee Pulanski

Feb 17, 2015, 8:04 PM

Played back before WWI. He made up for unorthodox running gate with a violent stiff arm that at times was armed with a homemade shank. Old Petee would be gimping around stabbing opponents too and fro on his way to the goal line. Back then it was all part of gamesmanship and the refs looked the other way as long as you slipped them a pack of Chesterfields and a dope.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I will have to go with Cliff Austin

Feb 17, 2015, 8:09 PM

We had class together , became friends.

He tried to guide me to the straight and narrow.

A great guy.

The stats don't look like much by today's standards, but I swear the guy would rather look for a safety to hit in the open field than try to run around him. #44 was one tough guy.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Anyone remember Wesley McFadden?

Feb 17, 2015, 11:01 PM

Fullback in the late 80's who ran behind Terry Allen. McFadden didn't get a ton of carries, but he averaged 5 yards a carry and scored 13 touchdowns. I think he might have had an ACL injury or some other injury that slowed him down at some point while he was here.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Anyone remember Wesley McFadden?

Feb 18, 2015, 7:02 PM

McFadden was undersized for a fullback, but was a tough runner, I liked him alot. Him and Tracy Johnson were very underrated
