Masters

1. Final Four 2. Masters 3. Opening Day. How could opening

day ever challenge the other two? Now, the World Series or baseball playoffs could.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-jospehg.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I guess I could flip flop the Masters and the Final Four.

Apr 1, 2016, 10:24 AM

I would not turn down a chance to go to the Masters, but I still do not give a flying #### about who wins or anything. College basketball could go ahead and die for all I care.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

1. orange and white game

Apr 1, 2016, 10:23 AM

2. Masters Sunday
3. Final Four
4. Masters Thurs-Sat
5. LOL AT BASEBALL WHAT A BORING DRAG OF A "SPORT"

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So, the thinking man's game is boring, but you get a boner

Apr 1, 2016, 10:34 AM

at the prospect of watching a bunch of Spanish-speaking dudes run around in short-shorts for 3 hours without ever scoring who are probably more concerned about what kind of tacos they're going to eat after the game than kicking a ball into a net?

I see.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

which part of baseball is the thinking

Apr 1, 2016, 10:39 AM

meathead throws ball towards home plate
bigger meathead swings stick
ball projects into field
bigger meathead has one option, RUN TO FIRST
flat brimmed fielder adjusts shades and catches ball
bigger meathead returns to dugout for 20 minutes of bro time until his turn to stand in the grass for 30 minutes

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, imagine a scenario where there are TWO guys on base

Apr 1, 2016, 10:42 AM

and a ball is hit to center. That poor CF thinks... I should try to catch this. WHAT IF I DON'T? Do I throw it to a base, a cutoff guy, or just heave it to the fat catcher. What if the dip in me lips comes ajar? Poor guy is probably a TRAIN WRECK working through all the strategery.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thinking man's game? LOLLLOLOLOL. I guess so

Apr 1, 2016, 10:39 AM [ in reply to So, the thinking man's game is boring, but you get a boner ]

I mean, a left fielder that touches the ball 6 times in 4 hours I guess does have a lot of time to think. What do they think about wearing long pants during the summer I wonder?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Because watching golf is super exciting...

Apr 1, 2016, 11:28 AM

I don't mind watching some of the bigger golf tournaments, but it's kind of silly to call baseball boring if you like watching golf.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

HEY CAM I AGREE WITH YOU!

Apr 1, 2016, 11:35 AM

I don't like watching golf either.

That said, I'll take Masters Sunday over any baseball game in the history of the world.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

In all seriousness though...

Apr 1, 2016, 11:41 AM

I don't watch much baseball on TV, but I can go to a game in person ANY TIME. I love the entire baseball experience in person. I didn't much like to watch golf until I started playing and experienced first hand just how hard the game is.

I can watch like 2 minutes of Runkicknoenglishspoken before having to move on to something like grass growing or paint drying. That said, I watched Argentina win a world cup game in a bar in Argentina. That was an awesome experience.

CONFESSION TIME

Apr 1, 2016, 11:44 AM

I've been to more than 100 MLB games. In many stadiums. Have also been to many minor league games, high school, little league....you name it.

For the life of me I cannot watch it on TV. I also wouldn't intentionally set out to go to a game in person.

That said, if I ended up at a game in person....I'd actually enjoy the experience and would intently watch the game in between hookers, blow, and 17 bud lights.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If we travel in the US to a place that has baseball, then

Apr 1, 2016, 11:53 AM

we'll always work in a game. Major, minor, independent league, or college. Matters not.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That was always my biggest question playing baseball growing

Apr 1, 2016, 11:37 AM [ in reply to Thinking man's game? LOLLLOLOLOL. I guess so ]

up. Granted, I came from a soccer background, but I never could figure out why we were wearing long pants in baseball. Is it to slide? We slide in soccer, still wear shorts.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Tradition. The first baseball players wore long pants.

Apr 1, 2016, 12:45 PM

The White Sox tried shorts in the 1970s. It didn't last long.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That is awful

Apr 1, 2016, 12:54 PM

And I would think you'd rather have the long pants for sliding.

Apr 1, 2016, 1:16 PM [ in reply to That was always my biggest question playing baseball growing ]

during that 6 months it takes for that strawberry on your hip to stop sticking to everything it touches.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why exactly is the scrape on ones hip. Those would

Apr 1, 2016, 1:19 PM

provide the same hip protection as normal baseball pants.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, I'm not seeing a difference there. You can get

Apr 1, 2016, 1:22 PM

compression pants if scraping up your thighs is a concern. The baseball pants we used to wear offered very little protection anyway, but were hot as helll.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Or knee. Or calf. Or thigh.

Apr 1, 2016, 1:45 PM [ in reply to Why exactly is the scrape on ones hip. Those would ]

that better? Here, since some folks need visuals:

You slide hard enough on clay, three or four layers aren't enough protection sometimes.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

In high school I wore sliding shorts under baseball pants

Apr 1, 2016, 1:47 PM

and still ended up a bloody mess every now and then. I must be an aggressive slider or my velvety soft skin is tender to the rough sand particles.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Apr 1, 2016, 1:37 PM [ in reply to do a full-speed slide on clay and get back to us ]

Strawberries from the hips to the outside calf cause I always wore shorts and I always slid/dove for balls in the outfield.

It's fun to watch sometimes, but I'm probably more interested to see all the new Clemson football players than I am in watching not even the last round of The Masters.

Re: Rank 'em: Upcoming sports events.

Apr 1, 2016, 2:01 PM

what I will watch, in order of priority:

1. Masters
2. Clemson baseball games
3. Final Four (will miss one due to attending higher priority Clemson baseball game)
4. Other MLB games
5. Spring Practice game

It is the best sports week of the year ---- without college football games.

Best sports week of the year for me is the week of the World Series because there are college football games that week also.

Best sports weeks:
1-15 - Clemson football weekends + bowl week
16. Masters week
