and largely because the NBC affiliate in Columbia had by far the best local newscast when I was a kid. FOX 21 doesn't even HAVE a sports director anymore and I don't watch them at all any more.

You're right about Columbia....For years it was either

WIS-TV or WIS radio, but many friends now watch WLTX-TV news and WIS radio is now a sports talk site. It's a toss-up for me for any of the locals, because it seems they compete to see which can air the most fluff. Even our newspaper, "The State," has devolved into more of a local rather than regional publication, and might as well be called "The Daily Gamecock II."
