You'll be hard pressed to find a more comfortable pickup. Mine had lifter/cam issues, but I think they had it fixed by 2014 or so. Even with that, I never had a problem until 150k miles. Ram boxes are also the ticket if you can find one with them.

Take this test first
Oct 27, 2020, 3:44 PM
|
|
1) Do you average 30mph or more over the limit in a school zone? 2) Do you live life a quarter mile at a time? 3) Have you never driven in the right lane for more than 1/32 of a mile at a time, ever? 4) Is the measure of a man how close they can get to the car's bumper in front of them?
If you answered yes to any of 1-4, then yes, this may be your truck.
If you answered yes to all 4, then you need to wait on the Ram TRX.

All that for $60K. Even at $30K I'd be saying..."hmmm"

29 point inspection?
Oct 26, 2024, 12:16 PM
|
|
The first 24 points are checking for each lug nut to be installed.
25. Is there 1 gallon of gas in the tank. If more, siphon out. 26. Is the ash tray clean? 27. Reset radio presets, removing 15 different Bro-country stations. 28. Remove air filter, shake out loose dirt, and reinstall. 29. Run through gas station carwash.

that is the last place I would grab a car. Plus they are fleet cars, so the carpet is cheaper, the electronics are base or less, many amenities are missing.
We absolutely destroyed those cars. LOL at anyone that would buy a car from Enterprise.

I got a Longhorn. It is by far the best truck I've ever had. I've had chevys and fords, still have a chevy and ford truck actually, but this is my first RAM.
I got one with ram boxes on the side. They are perfect for keeping things out of the floor board of the back seat. It's huge on the inside. Storage everywhere. V8 Hemi has a lot of power.
I could not be happier with the truck.

My 2004 Dakota has just under 250K miles on it.

[ in reply to Maybe Germans, but ] |

Major issues: Replaced front drive shaft 2X, but the second time was due to the NAPA remanned one not being packed with grease. First failure was because I tore the CV joint grease boot in the woods, slung out the grease, and burned it up.
A nagging electrical issue that carried on for over a year. I kept blowing a dash fuse every time I would hit a big bump. Ultimately I replaced the onboard computer and that fixed it.
The dash material is complete crap, rotted in the sun and shattered into oblivion. Every 2000's dodge seems to have this issue. Nothing a nice carpeted dash cover can't fix.

It's a little more complicated than that.
Oct 28, 2020, 10:00 AM
|
|
I just carried a huge sack of 10A mini-fuses in the glove box and kept on rolling with it.
I checked all of the wiring out and could never find anything that read to ground or saw any damaged wire.
Eventually I traced it back to a 5V power supply on the computer that was dropping out from time to time. Ultimately I bought a used computer from ebay and threw it in. Worked like a charm (except that every warning on my dash stays lit up 24/7 and the speedometer doesn't work anymore.
But for a farm-use only truck... it runs good.
Right now, there is a tarp lining the bed and I'm using it to keep my septic tank pumped down until I can finish my new leachfield.
