Srs and joungy answers expected, so fire away.

I just got a conditional offer of employment from an employer today. As the only real job I have held at this point is with the military, I don't have much experience with this aspect of things. I have a few more tests to pass before I can get a final offer. I shouldn't have any problems passing them. My question is, have you ever received a conditional offer for a job, then ended up not getting it even though you met the requirements for it? I don't really understand how serious conditional offers generally are.
