Questions about the evolution of our offense under Dabo

Apr 7, 2019, 12:33 PM

Is Dabo still not considered and X's and O's guy?

I'm looking for a analysis of our offensive evolution under Dabo because I'm curious why he was always pigeonholed as a non x's and o's guy and yet their seems to be a pretty clear evolution to our offense that he guided...Here's my understanding (which is admittedly limited may be wrong)

-Dabo fires Spence
-Dabo hires Napier for 1 year in which we win our Division using Zone-Read? (Thank you CJ Spiller)
-Dabo fires Napier (Pretty much had to do this as part of saving his job)
-Dabo hires Chad Morris (Dabo goes all in for the hurry up spread with zone read blocking...utilizing our talent levels the best he can)
-Dabo names Eliot and Scott Co-Coordinators (young coaches he has mentored and is taking a stand for because he could have hired a much bigger name the way Saban does...and Clemson sets a new standard for performance in College football using a run-based-spread that utilizes the hurry up and zone read blocking up based on the opponent's defensive game plan and Clemson's individual talent)

I'm just trying to understand and keep up. Thanks for your responses!

I believe that Scott is here for the long haul and could easily see him as our next HC or in an upper level administration role at some point. I think Elliot will leave when the right opportunity arises. When that happens I think Streeter gets the OC job maybe with Scott in the same role he is today, should that move come in the near future.

Napier was pro style. Spence, who the hell knows?

Thanks, that makes a little more sense to me.***
