QB depth chart for GT game

Oct 25, 2017, 10:50 PM

From all indications(see Herbstreit's comments) K Bryant will not be 100% recovered from his ankle injury. Injuries happen. I get that. Z. Cooper apparently is a better backup for Bryant than Hunter Johnson. My question is why? HJ was rated as top 5-star QB coming out of high school last year. He enrolled at Clemson in January, participated in Spring camp and again in Fall camp. Cooper did have a redshirt year in 2016. Bryant was in no condition to play vs. Syracuse. So Cooper came in but was unable to inspire enough offense to overcome 2 missed field goals. H Johnson supposedly is the backup to Cooper. Even if Cooper knows the playbook better than Johnson it would seem that HJ could be given a dozen or so plays that he could handle. If KB starts the game vs. GT it would seem the risky thing to do. If Cooper should go down then HJ has to come in. I don't have a good feeling going into the GT without Johnson getting to play....early.
