The switch for my garbage disposal broke earlier this week.

Grabbed a new switch for $2 at Lowes. Go out to breaker box in garage, look for kitchen switches. I see kitchen lights...try those. Not it. Kitchen plugs...try those. Not it. Flip both of them off, because surely that should cover it, and get to unhooking wires. I couldn't really flip the broken switch to test if it was still hot. Get myself a little buzz, fortunately not enough to hurt, but I'm like "damn, that thing is still hot!"
Go back out to breaker box (4th trip), and there's a fuse called "Disposal". Duh. I was so caught up in "kitchen" being in the name that I skimmed over it like eleventeen times.

...and there are still 4 switches that I have no idear what they do.
1, I'm pretty sure is wired for a fan light....however, current fan doesn't have a light. That'll change shortly.
other 3, i'm clueless. I've checked the wall outlets to see if they control a plug/lamp or something, nada....one's on the back wall of the house that seems like it should be the 2nd switch for outdoor lights, but nerp!

Been here 18 years. My assumption is that one is supposed to control the light and one control the fan but someone wired both to the same switch.

We had a switch in our laundry room that seemingly went to no where.
Years later, U was under the house doing some plumbing work and saw a light bulb hanging down..... bet ol' grandaddyadidas rigged up a light for under the house.
Too bad by that time, I had removed the switch and dropped the wiring down into the wall cavity.

Fake tree. First time ever with a fake one, bought it last year after Christmas. Fake ones are great in my book though.

Went to find a 9-foot tree and it was $200. Some other dude wanted one not as nice for $180. Immediately went to Home Depot and bought a fake 9-footer for the same price. Figure if it lasts through next year it would have paid for itself. 10 years and we're GOLD. No daily watering. No shedding. Lights already on it. No bad spots, and fits perfect in the corner.
Even got a little smelly stick to make it smell real.

at $200 (which I estimate we paid) will break even at 3 years. This one is larger, fuller, and MUCH less of a pain. ALso, pre-lit is great but having to fluff it out was a pain.
Agree with you on not having to water or clean up needles, etc.

tree lights weren't common. 8 foot. Keep it in the basement with a giant bag over it. Takes about a minute to set up. Still great in every way. We used to have a 9 foot but too hard to decorate the top.
