I know we are only three days in but I can't believe Cain has been relegated to the 3rd team at WR
so far. We all knew the 1st team would be Williams, Scott and Peake. I'm a little surprised by the
2nd team though who are Ray-Ray McCloud, Germone Hopper and Trevion Thompson. I thought
from shear talent alone that Cain would be in the 2nd group from day one. Instead he's
rolling out in the 3rd team with Hunter Renfrow and Adrien Dunn. I'm sure he'll move
up soon I'm just surprised at the development so far...

Heck, the kid just got here, so give him some time to learn the plays, and yes, block, as well as the other ( Wildcat ) things we have in mind for him. He will play.

Will they be running some wildcat packages with him? I know he can sling it pretty good, but I feel like taking the ball out of Deshaun Watson's hands isn't necessary.

Trevion Thompson was also highly touted recruit as well who had a RS year to hone his skills. I'm not necessarily surprised considering who the guys are in front of him, but the coaching staff will certainly find him ways to get the ball in his hands.

a true freshman ahead of him the first week of practice. By all reports of folks I have talked to, Cain is every bit as talented as Sammy. He will play somewhere for sure.

True freshmen can't be relegated to third team, rather they start from the bottom and work their way up. He only has had three practices and has some serious talent in front of him.

problem at clemson now where we are "too deep" at WR...........we have 7 or so 4/5star WRs on the roster..........theoretically 3 on 1st team, 3 on 2nd team..........SOMEBODY has to be 3rd team. At this point i dare say it's a talent issue that has him on 3rd team........it's more than likely a play retention thing OR they have so much talent the coaches have to shift around everybody.

1) It's day THREE of fall camp for a true freshman
2) Coaches do this kind of thing all of the time as motivation as such
3) It takes a little longer for some kids to get settled in and have the light come on. Again, it's day THREE.

1. He played QB in High School, it's going to take time for him develop.
2. This is the deepest WR corp in country, every scholarship WR was at least 4* recruit coming out of HS.....how many teams can say that.

He's a true freshman, and all true freshmen start at the bottom of the depth chart and move up. It's not like he started at the top, and then he was demoted.
As he learns more of the offense and begins to run better routes, he'll move up the depth chart. He's the best athlete we have at WR. Once he knows what he's doing out there, he'll get as many snaps as anyone.

Nothing to see here. You have Mike Williams (former 4-star), Artavis Scott (former 4-star), and Charone Peake (former 5-star) in the first wave. Ray Ray (former 5-star), Germone Hopper (former 4-star), and Trevion Thompson (former 4-star) ahead of him in the second wave. I know Cain was a 5-star and an "instant impact" type of recruit, but he doesn't have a bunch of bums in front of him. More experience and just as much talent means he will have to fight to get on the field.
Just looking at that bunch makes me pretty excited for the future though. The receiving corps really is "too deep."
