Could you imagine the complaint from IPTAY donors if we had students sitting in the entire lower deck at Clemson?

Can you imagine how empty the stadium would look? The students don’t show up or stay

That is just what I was about to say. You could let all of them in for free and still over half of them wouldn’t show.

don’t have the big oil donors like A&M. Sorry!

We'd have half of DV empty if we gave students that respect.

AnM students go to the games and do their jobs. We're trying to coax our students to return to the stadium after halftime.

Clemson has 1/3 the student population that Texas A&M does***

Therefore they get 1/3 of the lower deck.

I lowballed earlier. A&M has 68,000

Students. So 30k of 68k go. For us it's 10,200 out of about 21k. Similar %, even slightly leaning in our favor.

Just pointing out how the sheer size of A&M makes that possible

So, for a bit of history on that, it's an ingrained tradition that not even the alum and donors want to touch. To some extent, one poster was right... donors are willing to pay more and donations cover it. So there's no real need to displace them.

But by the same token, the donors don't want to displace them for traditions sake. The 12th Man tradition started in 1922. So imagine students have been standing the entire game on the east stands for almost 100 years. To move the students is to mess with the 12th Man tradition. It doesn't just come down to dollars.

I have to say I've really grown in my appreciation

for aTm tradition. I'm "almost persuaded"

Just one question

What's in YOUR trophy case?

Just a bunch of conference championships and bowl trophies.

Our 3 national championships were before the post WW2 trophy generations.

It’s been a long #### time.

The student allotment this year was 40K. Official enrollment is 69K.

It's not just the lower deck, it's all 3 levels. 30,000 plus.

No matter how you look at it...It's pretty impressive and a part of why I like college football so much more than professional football or any other sport.

A&M is the only school...

Whose traditions I might respect more than our own. It's one of only two (the other being Notre Dame) that are even close. It's a big part of the reason they are my second favorite school. They still have to lose this week though.
